The Acting President of the National Unity Government, Duwa Lashi La, said this week during the exclusive interview with Khit Thit Media that the NUG is engaging and discussing with all ethnic armed organisations, as follows:

“There is no ethnic armed organisation that is not engaging with us. We are engaging with all of them. In addition, we are now having deep discussions with some of them in order to be all-inclusive in the future. Since our principle is to include everyone, we are going with an all-inclusive strategy. Only then will the revolution be successful.”

At present, ethnic revolutionary organisations including the Karen Nation Union (KNU) and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), are cooperating with the National Unity Government in military and political affairs.

📌📌 3. US State Department counsellor says that the US will continue to pressurise the Myanmar military until it stops terrorising and killing its own people

US State Department counselor Derek Chollet stated this week in an exclusive interview with RFA that the United States is urging its partner countries to open channels of engagement, whether formal or informal, with pro-democracy opposition actors in Myanmar, especially the National Unity Government. “I’ve personally been engaging with them over the last several years, either in person or virtually. We have engaged with them in Washington, DC, New York, and other countries. We encourage our partner countries to do the same,” he said.

He also said that as long as the Myanmar military does not change its actions of terrorising and killing its own people, the United States is continuously looking for ways to pressure the Myanmar military to stop its income. In cooperation with Australia, the UK, and the European Union, the United States is working to make it more difficult for the Myanmar military to find income that fuels its military activities.

In addition, he said that the United States would focus on enhancing the pro-democracy opposition groups and providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Myanmar.

📌📌 4. The U.S. Commerce Department has added three entities in Burma to the Entity List for providing surveillance technology to Burma’s military regime

The United States added three more entities in Myanmar with trade sanctions, and the U.S. Embassy Rangoon stated on March 4 that “The U.S. Commerce Department has added three entities in Burma to the Entity List for providing surveillance technology to Burma’s military regime and enabling the regime to track, identify, and commit human rights abuses against individuals in Burma.”

The US Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) added three Myanmar entities, which are among 37 entities from Belarus, China, Pakistan, Russia, and Taiwan, to its trade blacklist on March 2 “for violations of human rights.”

The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) said in its statement, “The Burmese entities provide surveillance equipment and services to Burma’s military regime, enabling it to carry out human rights abuses through the trafficking and identification of individuals, and the military’s continued repression of Burma’s people, including through surveillance and imprisonment.”

The three targeted entities include the regime’s Ministry of Transport and Communications, FISCA Security & Communication Co., Ltd., and Naung Yoe Technologies Co., Ltd.

The targeted entities face restrictions on exports, reexports, and transfers (in-country) of telecommunications infrastructure items, consumer communications devices, as well as a presumption of denial for all other items subject to the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

In March 2021, the department also added four entities in Myanmar—the regime’s Ministries of Defence and Home Affairs, Myanmar Economic Holdings Limited, and Myanmar Economic Corporation—to the list, with restrictions on exports and reexports, and transfers (in-country), of items subject to the EAR in response to the military coup and escalating violence against peaceful protesters.
