๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Military Leadership Urged to Accept Defeat in Rakhine State

December 27
The Western Regional Military Commander, Brigadier General Kyaw Kyaw Than, has reportedly urged Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and other senior military leaders of the junta to accept that they are losing the war in Rakhine State. In a meeting with the Arakan Army (AA), Brigadier General Kyaw Kyaw Than admitted the situation during discussions.

On December 20, the AA successfully captured the Western Regional Command Headquarters of the junta in Ann Township, Rakhine State, leading to their full control of Ann Township. As a result, Brigadier General Kyaw Kyaw Than has encouraged the junta's leadership, including Min Aung Hlaing, to acknowledge their losses and prioritize the safety of their subordinates’ lives.

The commander has further advised against ongoing bombing campaigns and violent actions against civilians, warning that such actions will perpetuate hatred and suffering across generations. Acknowledging Rakhine's challenging geography, which hinders reinforcements, he urged remaining junta troops to avoid sacrificing themselves under incompetent leadership. Instead, he encouraged them to establish communication with the AA to negotiate surrender, including waving white flags and laying down arms during battles.

The AA stated that they are treating captured junta soldiers in accordance with the law, providing them with food, medicine, and necessary care.

Notably, during the capture of Western Regional Command and surrounding military bases in Rakhine, high-ranking officials such as Deputy Commander Brigadier General Thaung Htun, Brigadier General Kyaw Kyaw Than, and Brigadier General Thu Rain Tun were reportedly captured alive by the AA.
