🚩🚩 4. Hawitzer shells used to attack civilians seized, deemed invaluable, says PDF in Ayadaw
January 11
The People's Defense Force (PDF) in Ayadaw Township stated today, January 11, that the seizure of 122mm Hawitzer shells, which were being used to indiscriminately attack civilians, is of immense significance. These weapons were captured during an attack on a military convoy providing supplies to the No. 10 Basic Military Training Camp located in Ayadaw Township, Sagaing Region.
During the battle on January 9, which intercepted a supply convoy heading from Narmakhaw to Ayadaw's Training Camp No. 10, the PDF reported that the most invaluable gain was the capture of these Hawitzer shells used in assaults against civilians. According to the PDF, the troops from Training Camp No. 10 often resorted to "scorched earth" tactics, indiscriminately shelling villages and terrorizing civilians in Ayadaw. The shells seized were a key part of this terror campaign.
The Department of Defense under the National Unity Government (NUG) confirmed that joint PDF forces under the jurisdiction of Military Region 1 attacked a military convoy on January 9. This resulted in the deaths of 15 junta soldiers, the capture of 7, and the seizure of various weapons and ammunition, including 15 122mm Hawitzer shells. Military Region 1 has verified the seizure.
The PDF in Ayadaw also reported that one revolutionary fighter lost their life in the battle on January 9. They expressed respect and gratitude for the fallen comrade, describing them as someone who gave their life heroically for the people.
As of today, January 11, the military situation along the Ayadaw-Monywa road remains tense. The PDF has urged the public to avoid using this route, as junta forces have been observed moving vehicles and conducting operations along the road.
