More than 20 civilians, including a child, were reportedly killed when Myanmar's military commission forces bombed a motorboat jetty near Chaung Sone village in Paletwa Township, Chin State, using Y-12 aircraft and fighter jets.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on October 18, military aircraft reportedly dropped at least 20 bombs on the busy loading and unloading port. Additional airstrikes were carried out on the morning and afternoon of October 19.

Military aircraft also reportedly fired on passenger vehicles and cargo trucks traveling along nearby roads, causing casualties among traders and workers. The exact number of victims is still being investigated.

In a separate incident, military forces bombed Ohn Taw village in Pakokku Township, Magway Region, reportedly killing five civilians, including a child.

At around 4 p.m. on October 18, three military aircraft dropped four bombs on the village. Initial reports provided conflicting casualty figures, including accounts of three women, three men, and a 10-year-old girl being killed.

Two suicide drones reportedly attacked the area again while residents were evacuating the wounded. Although no additional casualties were reported, the entire village was forced to flee.

Meanwhile, in Mandalay Region's Singu Township, military attack drones reportedly struck Shwe Bayet and Sint O Kyun villages three times at approximately 7 p.m. on October 18.

One man and two women were killed, while four females, including a five-year-old child, sustained serious injuries.

In Sagaing Region's Myinmu Township, military commission troops stationed at the Myaung junction reportedly fired four artillery shells toward Kyawt Min village at approximately 5:30 p.m. on October 18.

The shelling took place despite the absence of active fighting in the area. Three women were injured, while a monastery, residential homes, and domestic animals were also affected.

## 2. Five Civilians, Including a Child, Killed in Gyrocopter Bombing of Ohn Taw Village

m.CDM | October 19, 2026

Five civilians, including a young girl, were killed when Myanmar's military attacked Ohn Taw village near Kamma town in Pakokku Township, Magway Region, using gyrocopters, according to local news sources.

The attack occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on October 18, despite no fighting being reported in the area.

Three military gyrocopters that reportedly departed from Nyaung-U Air Base carried out the bombing.

Local sources said the attack killed four women, including an eight-year-old girl, and one man. Four other civilians were injured.

While residents were recovering the bodies of those killed, two suicide drones reportedly launched from the military's 101st Light Infantry Division base in Pakokku attacked the same location.

A local resident accused the military of deliberately targeting a village populated by civilians.

Military columns remain stationed in Kamma. On the morning of October 19, a column of approximately 350 troops reportedly moved toward Myaing Township, while additional military units were also departing.

The Anya Myay Civil Society Organization in Myaing has urged residents of southern Myaing Township to exercise extreme caution.

Local resistance groups have also warned residents to remain vigilant against continuing military airstrikes.

## 3. Nearly 40 Military Troops Reportedly Killed in Ngapyi Island Fighting; 10 Killed in Ywangan Clash

m.CDM | October 19, 2026

Intense fighting continues between Myanmar's military commission forces and the Arakan Army (AA) on Ngapyi Island, located near the boundary of Sittwe and Ponnagyun townships in Rakhine State.

According to reports, approximately 40 military personnel have been killed, and one military warship has been set on fire and destroyed.

Since October 7, military forces have reportedly attempted amphibious landings on the island with support from more than 10 transport and fighter aircraft and approximately five warships.

However, strong resistance from the AA reportedly resulted in approximately 40 military deaths and the capture of around 20 soldiers.

On October 17 and 18, military forces attempted to land additional reinforcements. During these operations, one warship was reportedly struck and destroyed by fire, while more than 10 additional military personnel may have been killed.

Sources on the ground alleged that the military had forcibly recruited and trained Rohingya personnel and deployed them in dangerous frontline amphibious assaults against the AA.

The AA reportedly continues to control Ngapyi Island and has also secured military positions on Kankaw Island and Wabo village.

As the AA advances closer to Sittwe, military forces are reportedly reinforcing their positions by sea and preparing defensive positions near the Sat Yoe Kya bridge.

Meanwhile, fighting also broke out near the border of Ywangan Township in southern Shan State and Thazi Township in Mandalay Region.

The clash involved military commission troops and the Danu National Defense Army (DSNDA).

According to a statement, approximately 50 military troops engaged DSNDA forces for nearly one hour beginning at around 6 a.m. on October 16.

The DSNDA reported that 10 military personnel, including two officers, were killed and at least 15 others were injured.

The resistance group also claimed to have seized MA-1 and MA-3 rifles, 60 mm mortar rounds, ammunition magazines, and other military equipment.

## 4. King Charles III's Books and Letters Delivered to Detained Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Military Authorities Announce

m.CDM | October 19, 2026

Myanmar's military authorities have announced that two books and sealed correspondence sent by Britain's King Charles III were delivered to detained democracy leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

According to the military's statement, officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs met with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi at approximately 10:40 a.m. on October 19.

During the meeting, they reportedly handed over two books, one sealed envelope, and additional sealed diplomatic correspondence from King Charles III.

The books were identified as The Land Gardeners: Soil to Table and Soil: The World at Our Feet, both addressing soil health, environmental conservation, and natural fertilizer production.

The military commission's spokesperson, Khine Khine Soe, drew criticism from members of the public for referring to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi as "Special Prisoner Suu Kyi," a description critics considered disrespectful.

Photographs released by the military showed Daw Aung San Suu Kyi seated across from two men wearing white shirts, identified as Home Affairs Ministry officials.

A calendar was visible on the wall behind them.

Observers noted that the setting appeared identical to the location shown in photographs released by the military on August 3, when Daw Aung San Suu Kyi reportedly met representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

This has led to speculation that she may still be detained at the same location.

Meanwhile, her son, Kim Aris, also known as Ko Htein Lin, continues campaigning for his mother's release and has requested permission to visit her.

## 5. PPNM Raises Political Prisoner Deaths and Prison Human Rights Abuses at the United Nations

m.CDM | October 19, 2026

The Political Prisoners Network–Myanmar (PPNM) has announced that its representatives met United Nations officials in Geneva, Switzerland, to raise concerns about deaths among political prisoners and widespread human rights violations inside Myanmar's prisons.

According to PPNM, its steering committee member Ko Thaik Tun Oo held seven meetings with relevant United Nations officials during the second week of October.

The meetings included representatives from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), as well as offices working on the prevention of torture, protection of human rights defenders, and freedom of expression.

Representatives also met with United Nations mechanisms addressing enforced disappearances.

During the discussions, PPNM highlighted serious human rights violations against political prisoners held by Myanmar's military authorities.

These included allegations of torture, mistreatment, denial of adequate medical treatment, and deaths resulting from the lack of proper healthcare.

The organization also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation with United Nations human rights mechanisms to increase international attention to abuses inside Myanmar's prisons.

PPNM emphasized the importance of accountability and efforts to ensure that those responsible for violations are held accountable.

## 6. Military Troops Allegedly Execute Young Civilian and Detain Another in Indaw Township

m.CDM | October 19, 2026

Myanmar's People's Defense Force (PDF) General Headquarters has reported that two civilians who accidentally entered a military-controlled area in Indaw Township, Katha District, Sagaing Region, were detained by military commission troops.

One of the civilians was allegedly shot dead.

At approximately 11:20 a.m. on October 19, the two civilians were traveling by motorcycle from Nyaung Kone village when they mistakenly entered an area near Ma-U Kone village where military troops were stationed.

According to the PDF statement, a 23-year-old man was tied up with his hands behind his back, forced to lie face down, repeatedly beaten with a rifle butt, and then shot at close range.

The second civilian, a man over 50 years old, was also reportedly tied up, beaten, and forcibly taken toward Le Pyin village.

The PDF accused military forces of deliberately targeting innocent civilians who had no involvement in the fighting, describing the alleged actions as blatant war crimes.

The organization also urged travelers to investigate road conditions in advance and strictly follow local security warnings to avoid entering dangerous military-controlled areas.

## 7. More Than 50 Lisu Fighters Led by Gu Si Defect to Myanmar Military, TNLA Says

m.CDM | October 19, 2026

The Palaung State Liberation Front/Ta'ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) has announced that a Lisu armed group led by U Gu Si has defected to Myanmar's military, taking more than 50 fighters and approximately 50 weapons.

Gu Si and his fighters had previously cooperated with the PSLF/TNLA during Operation 1027.

According to the TNLA's statement, the Lisu fighters broke their organizational oath on October 13 and joined the military authorities.

The TNLA declared that the group was no longer affiliated with its organization.

The statement warned that the PSLF/TNLA would closely monitor the group's activities and take action if its members committed abuses against civilians.

Military sources said Gu Si's group had been based in the Momeik area.

The TNLA central leadership had reportedly ordered the unit to relocate to Namhsan, but the group refused to comply and instead surrendered to military authorities in Kyaukme.

Gu Si was reportedly a former police officer who had served at the Pain Pyit village police station in Mogok Township, between Mogok and Momeik.

During Operation 1027, launched with allied forces in late 2023, the TNLA captured 12 towns and hundreds of military positions across northern Shan State.

However, following Chinese government pressure and mediation, along with military pressure including airstrikes, the TNLA subsequently lost control of several towns, including Nawnghkio, Hsipaw, and Kyaukme.

Under a ceasefire agreement with the military, the TNLA also agreed to return Mogok and Momeik.

The TNLA is currently participating in the military authorities' peace negotiation process, and some of its leaders have traveled to Naypyidaw for discussions.

## 8. Dawei Resistance Medical Teams Conduct Malaria Prevention Education for Displaced Civilians

m.CDM | October 19, 2026

Medical personnel from Battalion 8003 in Dawei District have conducted community outreach programs to help internally displaced people and local residents prevent malaria.

According to a statement released on October 19, the battalion's medical team worked alongside the Dawei Medical Team and Medic.Karli Medical Care to provide malaria prevention education.

The program targeted both local communities and civilians displaced by ongoing armed conflict.

Health workers explained that the risk of malaria increases during periods of heightened mosquito breeding.

They provided information on the symptoms of malaria, the dangers of severe malaria, and practical steps people can take to protect themselves.

The sessions also covered how malaria spreads, common warning signs, and recommended preventive measures.

Malaria is a potentially serious disease that can cause high fever and chills. It is transmitted through the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes.

The medical teams emphasized the importance of community awareness and preventive action, particularly among displaced populations who may face increased exposure to mosquitoes.
