📌📌 3. NUG’s Deputy Minister U Maw Htun Aung says that revenues from natural resources are not benefiting the public but rather private individuals

U Maw Htun Aung, Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy of the National Unity Government, wrote about the flow of revenues from Myanmar’s natural resources on social media.

“In the production of rare earth, which is mainly needed in batteries and green technology, there are not only limited production places and manufacturers, but also the production technology has a great impact on the environment, so even in big countries, it is being considered. Currently, China is the largest producer, followed by Myanmar’s Kachin State. The statistics are not local, they only appear in China’s custom data. This means that the profits from these resources do not flow back to the people, such as in the form of schools, hospitals, and public services, but rather private individuals benefit,” the Deputy Minister said.

Following the military coup, the military regime is issuing permits for natural resource projects illegally.
