📌 Spring Revolution Local News – Aug 15, 2023(Morning) 


📌📌 1. Union Minister U Nai Suwunna attended the meeting between the Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing Division


On August 14, the meeting between the NUG’s Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing Division (32/2023) was held.

At the meeting, Union Minister for Labour U Nai Tun Pe @ U Nai Suwunna, a member of ILACC, gave an opening speech.

Following, the members of the township people’s administrative bodies exchanged views with relevant officials regarding policies, directions, activities, and challenges encountered on the ground.

Led by Union Minister U Nai Suwunna, the meeting was attended by Permanent Secretaries, Associate Secretaries, and officials from ministries, and members of the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing Division.

📌📌 2. The Minister of Justice said that 100 township courts will be established by 2023, which will contribute to the success of the Spring Revolution


In a meeting held on August 13 between the Union Minister of the Ministry of Justice and the judges of the township courts, the Union Minister of the Ministry of Justice said this.

“In this period, the main work that must be done is to bring about criminal justice, and it must continue until the revolution is successful. The prisons are already under the Ministry of Justice. As the Spring Revolution progressed, the courts for judiciary needed to mature along with it. The Ministry of Justice aims to establish 100 township courts by 2023, and through this we will be able to contribute to the success of the Spring Revolution,” the minister said.

Union Minister of Justice U Thein Oo, Permanent Secretary Daw May Aung Thu, Deputy Secretaries U Min Naung Khaing and Daw Lin Htet San, Director General of The Rule of Law and Transitional Justice Department U Tin Tun Thein, Director General of Interim Judicial Affairs Department U Yan Gyi Aung and officials attended the meeting.

📌📌 3. The Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration held a meeting with the township people’s administrative bodies


On August 14, the meeting between the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration (MOHAI) and the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing, Magway, and Mandalay Divisions (16/2023) was held. At the meeting, the Associate Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration gave an opening speech.

Following, Associate Permanent Secretary of MOHAI explained the completion status of the operations, future plans, and activities of the ministries, and the attending members of the township people’s administrative bodies exchanged views with relevant officials regarding the policies, direction, ground administrative activities, difficulties, and challenges encountered on the ground.

The meeting was attended by Associate Permanent Secretary, officials from the Public Administration Department, Police Department, Fire Department, Immigration Department, and Department of Special Investigation, and members of the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing, Magway, and Mandalay Divisions.

📌📌 4. Taung Nyo Medic Team’s fourth successful twin delivery


Taung Nyo-P29906-Medic Team has officially announced that it has successfully delivered twins for the fourth time at Taung Nyo Clinic.

“Taung Nyo Medic Team was able to deliver twins for the fourth time as a normal delivery. Twins are a girl and a boy,” it stated.

Taung Nyo Medic Team was able to give treatment to 357 outpatients (OPD) in October 2022, and there were 18 patients from front line column, 11 normal deliveries, and 4 Caesarean Section deliveries.

📌📌 6. The junta troops that invaded Thaton Township raided the villages and looted the property of 36 civilians


On August 14, the KNU Headquarters released the news of violence acts of junta saying that the junta troops that had invaded the villages of Thaton Township in a column had looted the belongings of 36 civilians.

From July 25 to August 6 2023, the forces of the coup military council invaded villages in Thaton Township, Doo Tha Htu (Thaton) District Brigade 1, Kawthoolei administrative area of KNU, looted the belongings of 36 civilians, ransacked the houses, intentionally fired heavy artillery into the civilians places and shot the civilians for no reason.

As a result of reckless shooting, 1 innocent civilian was killed, houses belonging to the public were damaged, and a large amount of property belonging to the public was stolen.

📌📌 7. In order to retrieve Lat Khat Taung hill camp, the enemy junta troops marched and attacked with excessive force 10 times, and a total of 17 junta soldiers including 2 captains were killed and 34 were injured


On August 14, the Cobra Column confirmed that, in order to retrieve Lat Khat Taung hill camp near Myawaddy, Karen State, the enemy junta troops marched and attacked with excessive force 10 times, and a total of 17 junta soldiers including 2 captains were killed and 34 were injured.

“On July 21, our joint revolutionary forces were able to capture the Lat Khat Taung hill camp, which is strategically important for the military council, successfully. After that, the junta side vigorously tried to retrieve Lat Khat Taung hill camp, and our joint revolutionary forces, including KNU/KNLA Brigade-6 forces, Cobra Column-1, Black Panther Column, Federal Wings, Raung Ni, and other allied forces fought with the terrorist military council troops at least 10 times till (13.8.2023),” it stated.

In these battles, a total of 17 junta soldiers, including 2 captains, were killed, and 34 injured. A comrade from the joint revolutionary forces honorably sacrificed his life, 8 were injured, and a drone was destroyed.

On the enemy’s side, a lance corporal and a private defected to the joint revolutionary forces along with a 60-mm commando mortar, 5 6-mm grenades, one MA 2 rifle, 6 magazines, and 600 rounds of 5.56 ammunition.

The weapons seized from the enemy are 8 40-mm grenades, 10 M-16 magazines, 188 rounds of Carbine cartridges, 6 Carbine magazines, 93 rounds of NATO cartridges, one landmine, 130 rounds of junta-produced 5.56 ammunition, 688 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, and 7 rounds of AK cartridges.

📌📌 8. From January to August 14, 2023, (246) women were killed across the country by the junta, with Sagaing Region recording the highest number of deaths, totaling (135) within the region


The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) stated the news in its ‘Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup’ updated on August 14, 2023.

The AAPP stated, “According to the data collected by AAPP, from January to August 14, 2023, (246) women were killed across the country by the junta, with Sagaing Region recording the highest number of deaths, totaling (135) within the region. Among the (246) women, (93) women were killed by airstrikes and (74) women were killed due to artillery attacks.”
