📌📌 1. Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun said that due to the illegal coup and military’s war ranged against the entire population, people are still facing dire situations every day
Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun, Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, said the above in a speech at the General Discussion on Social Development of the Third Committee of the Seventy-Eighth session of the UN General Assembly, on September 29, in New York, United States.
In the statement:
“Today, my country and the people are in despair. The illegal military coup attempt on 1 February 2021 had made people suffer tremendously to this date. People’s tragedies continue to persist due to the military’s war ranged against the entire population. This time, social well-being is a total misery and all progresses have reversed.
I cannot agree more with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. He has called for radical action to end an unspeakable tragedy unfolding in Myanmar.
Myanmar’s issue is not an internal. Chaotic situations have been spilling over into the region. Our neighbours have been affected by this illegal coup, including those hosting the Rohingya minorities.
Nevertheless, the only way to fully resolve the issue is to end this military dictatorship and bring perpetrators accountable.
For this to happen, the international community must extend strong and effective support to the people of Myanmar and must not leave the people of Myanmar behind.”
