๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Attack on Military Camp in Yae Township's Kyaung Village Results in Casualties

On January 6, Radio NUG reported that three rounds of 60mm mortars were fired into the camp of the junta's Battalion 583 stationed in Kyaung Village, Yae Township. As a result, one senior officer was killed, and 10 others were injured.

The Southern Military Region of the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) confirmed the incident, stating that on December 31, 2024, the combined forces of Strategic Battalion 33 and allied battalions launched the attack. One mortar shell landed near the central guard post, another in the center of the camp, and the third near the perimeter fence.

The junta forces retaliated with indiscriminate artillery fire, which struck near the village, injuring one civilian.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Emergency Alert Issued as Junta Launches Shelling from Monywa

On January 6, Radio NUG reported that the junta forces in Monywa were shelling northward using Howitzer artillery. The Kanbalu Township People’s Administrative Body issued an urgent warning for civilians to take shelter in safe areas.

“The shelling from Monywa’s Namakh Base with Howitzers is ongoing. We urge all civilians to remain vigilant and take shelter in safe locations,” the statement read.

Previously, on December 16 and 18, airstrikes were conducted in the vicinity of Kyauk Hlae Ka Village (near the Min Kin Township border) in Kanbalu Township, involving seven sorties and approximately 70 bombs. Although no civilian casualties were reported, 17 houses were destroyed, five cattle were killed, and earlier airstrikes in the area resulted in five civilian deaths (including three students) and nine injuries.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. 28 Military and Police Personnel Defect to the People’s Side in December

On January 6, the Ministry of Defense under the National Unity Government (NUG) announced that 28 junta military and police personnel, including one deputy police chief, defected to the people’s side in December 2024.

The defections were facilitated by the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) and Public Security Forces (PaKaFa). Among the defectors, 13 brought their weapons with them. In recognition of their actions, the NUG Defense Ministry awarded cash incentives proportional to the value of the surrendered weapons.

The defectors brought a total of 13 firearms and various ammunition. Civilians and soldiers seeking to defect were encouraged to contact the Telegram account @MyanmarPeople or approach nearby PDF, PaKaFa, or allied ethnic revolutionary organizations for safe integration into the people’s side.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. "Shield and Gear – 1500 Lakhs Campaign" Launched

On January 6, Radio NUG reported that Battalion 7 in Minbu District launched the "Shield and Gear – 1500 Lakhs Campaign."

“A significant military shift will occur in 2025. To maintain momentum, we need to strengthen our forces, and this requires public support. Therefore, we are preparing equipment and armor for 100 comrades,” the statement explained. “For every 10 defensive battles, there are 100 offensive missions. To counter the junta's forces of approximately 1,000 troops, we urgently need 100 fully equipped comrades with weapons, ammunition, and personal gear.”

The campaign is being organized by the District PDF, Regional PDF, and allied Yenantha Column in cooperation with Battalion 7 of Minbu District.
