๐๐ 1. Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament Speaker and Team Provide Earthquake Relief in Affected Areas
April 7
Led by U Myint Htwe, Speaker of the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament, a delegation of local parliamentary representatives visited earthquake-affected areas within Sagaing Township from April 3 to 5. The team provided a water purification machine and other relief supplies worth exactly 10 million MMK to the Sagaing Township Earthquake Relief Committee.
Following the aid delivery, the Speaker and his team also inspected the damage caused by the earthquake, including religious buildings, residential homes, and road and bridge infrastructure undergoing repair works. They also met and encouraged volunteer rescue workers, local administrative groups, People’s Defense Teams, revolutionary groups active in the region, and personnel from the PDF battalions.
According to preliminary assessments, the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck 16 kilometers northwest of Sagaing city on March 28, 2025, resulted in 47 fatalities and 55 injuries across rural village clusters in Sagaing Township. A total of 1,779 homes and 387 public buildings—including schools, clinics, and religious structures—were destroyed or severely damaged. In the broader Sagaing area, over 80% of structures sustained damage, with 611 confirmed fatalities and more than 500 injured.
The Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament has reportedly been coordinating and mobilizing support efforts through a "From People to People" initiative across townships in its jurisdiction since the day the earthquake struck.

April 7
A representative from the Nway Oo Tea Gathering in the San Francisco Bay Area stated on April 7 that more than USD 14,000 was raised through both sales and donations.
“The military dictatorship did absolutely nothing to protect or rescue the people affected by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Sagaing. Instead, it continued to launch airstrikes and offensives in a desperate bid to cling to power. Even civil servants and their families loyal to the regime were abandoned by Naypyidaw. Only when this dictatorship is uprooted will Myanmar be able to survive and recover,” the representative remarked.
The funds raised during the 40th sales event organized by the Nway Oo Tea Gathering in the San Francisco Bay Area will be sent back to Myanmar to support those in urgent need.

April 7
Singer Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein is set to perform in Melbourne, Australia on April 12, as part of her World Tour 2025.
“Coming up this Saturday evening, April 12, I’ll be meeting fans in Melbourne. Let me share a few words in advance. Melbourne is one of the cities included in my World Tour 2025, and this concert will follow the tour’s central theme. Based on the feedback from previous shows, I believe this will be another meaningful performance. The setlist has been thoughtfully curated in line with the theme—not just for entertainment, but as a narrative. This isn't about jumping around for fun; I want to be clear about that from the start,” she explained.
Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein also stated that the concert proceeds will be directed to the original key focus areas of the tour.
“As in the Sydney show, there will be charity auctions during the intermission for those who wish to support the recent earthquake relief efforts. 100% of the funds raised from these auctions will go directly to earthquake relief,” she added.
These updates were reported by Min Thihan, a correspondent for Radio NUG.
