๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. TNLA Rejects Junta’s Request to Withdraw Troops from Multiple Townships Including Namhkam and Mantong

May 2
Radio NUG

According to a statement by the PSLF/TNLA, representatives of the terrorist military council had requested the full withdrawal of Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) troops from several areas, including Naungcho, Kyaukme, Hsipaw, Mogok, and Moemate, extending into the Ta’ang Self-Administered Zone covering Namhkam and Mantong townships. This request, however, was rejected by PSLF representatives.

As a result of this rejection, the dialogue between the two sides has not progressed further. Nonetheless, both parties have agreed to meet again in August to discuss a potential ceasefire.

The previous meeting took place on April 28 and 29 in Kunming, China, under the mediation of the Chinese government. The TNLA was represented by Deputy Commander-in-Chief Tar Jyut Jar, while the junta was represented by Deputy Commander-in-Chief Ko Ko Oo.

Discussions focused on ending aerial bombings, heavy artillery shelling, drone strikes, and ground assaults. Talks also included reopening the China–Myanmar border trade routes, ensuring regional stability, and possibly establishing a ceasefire mechanism similar to the one with the Kokang group (MNDAA). China’s Special Envoy Mr. Deng Xijun reportedly played a leading role in facilitating the talks and pushing for progress in negotiations.
