📌📌 1. Acting President says Myanmar’s Spring Revolution seeks to demolish all dictators, including the military dictatorship, and to establish a federal democratic union system
Acting President Duwa Lashi La stated that Myanmar’s Spring Revolution seeks to demolish all dictators, including the military dictatorship, as well as to establish a federal democratic union system. The Acting President stated this in his message to the International Women’s Day ceremony on March 8.
“Not only in the history of the world but also in every political movement in Myanmar’s history, women’s participation and leadership are the reason for a proud day like today. Myanmar’s Spring Revolution seeks to end all dictators, including military dictatorships, and to establish a federal democratic union system.”
Moreover, the Acting President reiterated that, as inclusiveness is the most important policy in establishing a democratic federal union, it can only be built if women involved in the conflicts, as well as those suffering from its consequences, are represented.

📌📌 2. NUG will strive to achieve justice for women who suffered human rights violations during the revolution
The Union Prime Minister Mahn Win Khaing Than said that the National Unity Government would strive to achieve justice for women who suffered human rights violations during the revolution. The Prime Minister stated this in his message to the International Women’s Day ceremony on March 8.
“Today, in the spring revolution, I am very proud to see women boldly participating in the front lines of all aspects of the revolution. I’d like to state proudly that the women who are actively participating in the military council’s suppression of terrorism without fear are women who will make a mark on Myanmar’s history. Similarly, the National Unity Government would like to express its commitment to ensuring justice for women who suffered human rights violations during the revolution.”
Myanmar is also a signatory to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

On March 8, the NUG’s Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee held a (4/2023) meeting with township Public Administration Groups from Magway, Mandalay, and Yangon regions. Dr. Win Myat Aye, a member of the Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee and Union Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, delivered opening remarks at the meeting.
Then, Nai Tun Pe (aka) Nai Suwunna, a member of the Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee and Union Minister of Labor, and Deputy Ministers gave greetings respectively. After that, the Ministries of Planning, Finance, and Investment and Labor clarified the department structure, operations, policies, and statements. In addition, members of the township public administration asked the ministry officials what they wanted to know about the policies, guidelines, operations, and challenges on the ground, and the ministry officials responded.
The meeting was attended by Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Associate Secretaries, department officials, and members of township Public Administration Groups from Magway, Mandalay, and Yangon regions.

It is reported that Union Minister Dr. Win Myat Aye and CRPH members attended the ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) Members’ Forum, which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia. On March 8, the NUG’s Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Ministry issued a press release as follows:
“According to an invitation, Dr. Win Myat Aye, Union Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, and members of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), attended the ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) Members’ Forum held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from March 3 to 5.”
The meeting’s discussion with ASEAN parliamentarians is primarily focused on the roles of CRPH, NUG, and NUCC in the spring revolution, as well as the violence and challenges faced by Myanmar parliamentarians. The members of the APHR decided to strongly oppose the sham election of the military council as it would lead to more serious conflicts.
Moreover, they condemned the military council’s recent brutal killings in Tartaing village, Sagaing region, and discussed how they could work together to save people on the ground. In addition, it is reported that the union minister met with relevant government officials and discussed how to effectively send humanitarian aid to Myanmar where it is most needed.

“On International Women’s Day 2023, the European Council added 9 individuals and 3 entities from Myanmar, Russia, South Sudan, and Afghanistan to the list of individuals and entities sanctioned by the European Union. Due to their involvement in serious human rights abuses and, in particular, sexual and gender-based violence, the EU has decided to sanction Major-General Toe Yi, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, and the office of the Chief Military Security Officer, which is in charge of detention and interrogation centers.”
They have been added to the list of 93 Myanmar individuals and 18 organizations already sanctioned by the EU.

Resistance forces attacked junta troops stationed at Monywa city’s Nyaungpinzauk immigration office, killing 15 people. On March 8, the Monywa District PDF (Chindwin Attack Force) reported as follows:
“On March 8 at approximately 9:00 a.m., Chindwin Attack Force Battalions 2, 3, and 4, Special Commando Force (Monywa The Boys), Monywa District’s Battalion 4 (Division 4), Monywa Nightking PDF, Monywa District’s Battalion 7, Lightning People Defense Force, Yinmabin District’s Battalion 28, Dar Ma Sai Army, Monywa District’s Battalion 11, PDF South Monywa, Spring Dove, and the Yakka Nyi Naung Force jointly attacked junta troops stationed in Monywa’s Nyaungpinzauk immigration office.”
During the 15-minute battle, at least 15 junta forces were killed on the spot after firing large and small weapons at the immigration office, and the building was also damaged.
