📌📌 4. Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun states that there were a total of 56 air attacks and 66 massacres committed by the Myanmar military

On April 13, 2023, ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the United Nations, and ambassador Ms. Barbara Woodward, Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the United Nations, remarked at a Security Council Media Stakeout at the United Nations on the military junta’s barbaric air attacks on Pazigyi village.

“There were a total of 56 air attacks by the military junta from January to March 2023. And there have been 66 massacres committed by the military since the illegal coup. These attacks showcase the junta’s escalating terror campaign against the Myanmar people, despite the repeated calls by the international community, including the United Nations Security Council,” ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun stated.

“The military doesn’t deny this. They’ve admitted they carried out the massacre. So the UK strongly condemns this cowardly attack on unarmed children and civilians. It is against international laws and is fully indefensible. We believe the council should condemn it and demand full implementation of Security Council resolution 2669. It is concerning to us that the council has not been able to do so. For the UK’s part, we will continue to do all we can to hold the military regime to account for its oppression of the Myanmar people,” the UK ambassador Ms. Barbara Woodward remarked.
