📌 Spring Revolution Local News – Aug 08, 2023(Morning) 


📌📌 1. NUG Union Ministers attended the meeting between the Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing Division


On August 7, the meeting between the NUG’s Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing Division (31/2023) was held and NUG Union Ministers attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Union Minister for Health and Education Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, and Union Minister for Labour U Nai Tun Pe @ U Nai Suwunna, who are members of ILACC, gave opening speeches respectively.

Following, members of the township people’s administrative bodies exchanged views with relevant officials regarding policies, directions, operations, and challenges encountered on the ground. Then, Union Minister for Commerce Daw Khin Ma Ma Myo, a member of the ILACC, gave a closing remark.

The meeting was attended by Union Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Associate Secretaries, officials from ministries, and members of the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing Division.

📌📌 2. The Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration held a meeting with the township people’s administrative bodies


On August 7, the meeting between the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration (MOHAI) and the township people’s administrative bodies of Bago, Ayeyarwady, Yangon, and Tanintharyi Divisions (15/2023) was held.

At the meeting, Associate Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, gave an opening speech.

Following, Associate Permanent Secretary of MOHAI explained the completion status of the processes adopted in the meeting (14/2023), future plans and activities of the ministries, and the attending members of the township people’s administrative bodies exchanged views with relevant officials regarding the policies, direction, ground administrative activities, difficulties, and challenges encountered on the ground.

The meeting was attended by Associate Secretaries, officials from the Public Administration Department, Police Department, Fire Department, Immigration Department, and Department of Special Investigation, and members of the township people’s administrative bodies of Bago, Ayeyarwady, Yangon, and Tanintharyi Divisions.

📌📌 3. Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Defence U Maung Maung Swe said that revolutionary forces had successfully attacked five enemy headquarters 13 times in a period of 6 months.


On August 7, in presenting the victory news of the Spring Revolution to the public, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Defence U Maung Maung Swe said, “Our revolutionary forces have successfully attacked five of the enemy’s headquarters 13 times in a period of 6 months.”

“As members of the People’s Defense Forces, during this 6-month period, we successfully attacked the Northwestern Regional Military Command (RMC) Headquarters 6 times, the Southeastern Regional Military Command (RMC) Headquarters 1 time, the 44th Division Headquarters 3 times, the 33rd Division Headquarters 1 time, and the 101st Division Headquarters 2 times,” the deputy minister said.

During the period of 6 months, 935 battles were fought, 3012 enemy soldiers were killed and 4021 were injured. During these battles, 203 small arms and more than 30,000 rounds of ammunition were seized from the enemy.

“The enemy’s position is not just the front line facing the battles. The military headquarters are also on the front line, and these battles show that they can no longer remain calm,” said Deputy Secretary U Maung Maung Swe.

📌📌 4. In recent weeks, junta forces fired guns and artillery shells, raided, and torched civilian areas across the country


On August 7, the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (Burma) stated in its “Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup (Updated on 7 August 2023)” junta forces fired guns and artillery shells, raided, and torched civilian areas across the country.

“In recent weeks, junta forces fired guns and artillery shells at civilian areas across the country, they then raided and set fire to said areas, forcing locals to flee. 

On August 5, around 100 junta personnel attacked Tin Tein Yan Village in Ye-U Township, Sagaing Region. As a result, over 8,000 locals from over 20 villages including Shaw Hpyu, Shaw Kone, Zee Kone, Pauk Taw, Htan Taw, Chon Ywar, Myo Gyi, Tin Tein Yan, and Ma Gyi Ni Villages had to flee for safety,” it stated.

📌📌 5. In Pale Township, about 3,000 people have fled their homes due to ground invasions and air strikes conducted by the terrorist military


On August 7, the Pale Township People’s Administration informed that about 3,000 people had to flee their homes due to the terrorist military’s ground invasions and air strikes in Pale Township, Sagaing Division.

“On August 7, the terrorist military council column that arrived in the Zee Hpyu Kone Pyu camp in Pale Township left for the east at around 6:00 a.m. At around 10:30 a.m., a contact battle broke out with the PaKaFa Battalions based in Pale Township, and local LPDF forces between Kyay Nin and Kyaung Than Villages. In the battle, there were detonations of mines and firing with heavy weapons and small arms, resulting in casualties among the terrorist junta soldiers. Consequently, at around 11:15 a.m., a junta jet fighter plane from the Tada-U Air Force bombarded and fired with machine guns at the battle sites,” it stated .

Although the fighter jet came and fired, the defense comrades were not harmed, and at around 12:00 p.m. in the afternoon, the terrorist junta troops invaded Kyay Nin Village in civilian clothes.

It is reported that about 3,000 people from the villages of Hngat Pyaw Taw, Khaw Thanti, Nyaung Pin Thar, Sin Shin, Kyaung Than, Kyay Nin, and Thittayar along the invasion of the military council column have been forced to leave their homes and flee.

📌📌 6. Junta column of about 90-strong that came out of the Zee Hpyu Kone Pyu camp in Pale Township was attacked by defense forces, killing at least 10 junta soldiers


On August 7, Yinmarbin District Battalion 19 (Pale Jokers PDF) confirmed the military news that the defense forces attacked a junta column of about 90-strong coming of the Zee Hpyu Kone Pyu camp in Pale Township, Sagaing Division, and at least 10 junta soldiers were killed.

“On August 7, at around 9:00 a.m., the 90-strong junta column that came out of Zee Hpyu Kone (Pyu) Village, was ambushed by our Squadron 3 of the Yinmarbin District Battalion 19 (Pale Jokers PDF) and the Myanmar Royal Dragon Army (MRDA) in the west of Kyay Nin Village. The battle lasted for about 1 hour, and the junta side carried out two bombing raids with jet fighters at around 11:00 a.m.,” it stated.

At least 10 junta soldiers were killed and many were injured in the battle, and the joint revolutionary forces were able to retreat unscathed.

📌📌 7. A battle broke out between the Shan State Progressive Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) and the military council, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 soldiers on the side of the military council


SSPP Info reported on August 7 that at least 10 soldiers from the side of the military council were killed in a battle between the Shan State Progressive Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) and the military council.

“On August 6, from 6:15 a.m. to around 3:00 p.m. in Laihka Township, southern Shan State, a battle broke out between the Shan State Progressive Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) and the military council. A soldier from the Shan State Progressive Party/Shan State Army SSPP/SSA sacrificed his life, and at least 10 soldiers from the military council were killed and some were seriously injured,’ it stated.

It is reported that 2 military council soldiers were captured alive and a military vehicle was also obtained.

After the fighting between the two sides, the military council banned traffic in Pinlon – Laihka – Mongnawng and the entrance to the Namt Tain Bridge in Laihka Township, and it is reported that the military from both sides is still tense.

On July 21, the joint forces of KNLA, Cobra Column, and PDF successfully captured Lat Khat Taung hill camp, a strategic hill camp near Myawaddy.

📌📌 9. A campaign to prevent the purchase, use, sale, and transportation of military products such as liquor, beer, soft drinks, and cigarettes was conducted in Launglon Township, Dawei District


On August 7, the Dawei Democracy Movement Strike Committee (DDMSC) conducted a campaign in Launglon Township, Dawei District, urging people not to purchase, use, sell, and transport liquor, beer, soft drinks, and cigarettes, which are brands of military products.

This campaign is said to have been carried out by going to grocery stores, liquor and beer shops in some villages in Launglon Township, Dawei District and urging them not to sell military products such as liquor, beer, soft drinks, and cigarettes.

In addition to this, cargo trucks and tricycles were also informed and urged to oppose the strike by not transporting military goods.

Types of military products; alcohol, beer, and cigarettes are:

(1) Myanmar Beer

(2) Andaman Gold liquor, beer, and soft drinks

(3) Dragon brand liquor, beer, and soft drinks

(4) Black Shield Stout

(5) Mandalay Beer, Rum 

(6) Army Rum

(7) Red Ruby cigarettes

(8) Premium Gold cigarettes.

📌📌 10. A banner with the slogan “We must engage the final battle” was hung in a place in Yangon amidst tight security 


It is reported that Mayangone Democratic Front (MDF) and Kyimyindaing Networks (KMD18) joined forces to carry out civil disobedience against the terrorist military junta on August 7 as a pre-strike for the 35th anniversary of the 8888 Uprising, holding a banner “We must engage the final battle”.

Despite arrests in the cities of Yangon and Mandalay, the movements against the military dictatorship are still going on at a steady pace.
