The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) reported that, despite the reopening, there is very low student attendance at Nant Phat Kar High School following the explosion of artillery shells inside the school.

On September 26th, during the clash between the military junta forces and TNLA forces in the Nant Phat Kar area, three artillery shells detonated in a residential ward, and four shells struck the school. This led to the injuries of an 11-year-old child and a man due to artillery shrapnel. Concerns have arisen among the parents of the students regarding their children’s safety in light of the ammunition explosions on the school premises. Despite the school reopening on September 28th, two days after the incident, there were hardly any students going to school.

Kutkai Township falls within the jurisdiction of the 1st Brigade of the TNLA, the armed wing of the Palaung State Liberation Front (PSLF). Consequently, the military junta frequently deploys heavy weaponry and carries out airstrikes in areas believed to be TNLA force positions.
