This statement was released in a report by the United Nations.
“The ICC (International Criminal Court) should urgently issue an arrest warrant for Myanmar military leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing,” said Tom Andrews. “This action would be a decisive step forward for justice.”
The UN Special Rapporteur emphasized that Min Aung Hlaing bears responsibility not only for the heinous crimes committed against the Rohingya but also for the ongoing war crimes and crimes against humanity occurring throughout Myanmar. He further stressed that these atrocities must be halted and those responsible held accountable.

๐๐ 2. ASEAN's Invitation to Junta Representatives for Digital Ministers' Meeting Condemned
December 17
Radio NUG
The invitation extended to Myanmar’s military junta, notorious for committing crimes, to represent the country at the ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting has been strongly condemned, according to a statement by Defend Myanmar Democracy on December 17.
“Why on earth was the junta, known for committing atrocities, invited to represent Myanmar in such an international meeting?” the statement questioned. “What kind of expertise could war criminals possibly offer in digital development?”
The invitation was also criticized for potentially serving as an opportunity for the military junta to share lessons on internet shutdowns and propaganda rather than contributing meaningfully to digital progress.
The statement further urged ASEAN to extend the invitation to the National Unity Government (NUG), which genuinely represents the people of Myanmar, and to support digital development initiatives that align with the people’s interests.
