๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. U Kyaw Moe Tun Reappointed as Myanmar's Permanent Representative to the UN

December 7
U Kyaw Moe Tun has been reappointed as Myanmar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, representing the country in his capacity as Ambassador. The UN Credentials Committee confirmed this reappointment on December 6.

Despite efforts by Myanmar’s military junta to gain representation, the UN reaffirmed its recognition of Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, who fully represents the people of Myanmar. This marks the third consecutive rejection of the junta’s attempts to secure representation at the UN, with the Credentials Committee deciding to maintain U Kyaw Moe Tun in the role.

Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun stated that continuing Myanmar's representation at the UN is a significant boost to the Spring Revolution and the broader people's resistance movement. He remains committed to raising the voices of Myanmar’s citizens on the international stage.

The National Unity Government (NUG) Minister of Human Rights, U Aung Myo Min, expressed pride in U Kyaw Moe Tun’s reappointment through his social media, stating:
"Once again, we have successfully thwarted the junta's attempt to gain recognition. This ensures that the voices and will of the people of Myanmar continue to resonate through the UN platform. This is a victory for the people."

Appointed during the NLD government’s tenure, U Kyaw Moe Tun has stood against the military coup since February 2021. He has consistently represented the people of Myanmar, reporting on the junta’s human rights violations and atrocities to the UN General Assembly and other forums, ensuring that the international community remains informed about the military’s actions.
