The National Unity Government’s (NUG) Committee for Interim Public Judiciary Efforts convened its 1/2025 meeting on January 22 at 3:00 PM Myanmar Standard Time. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mann Win Khaing Than, the committee chairperson, and Deputy Chairperson (2), Union Minister for Justice U Thein Oo, who both delivered opening remarks.
Prime Minister Mann Win Khaing Than highlighted the importance of upholding the rule of law during the revolutionary period, emphasizing that this is a critical aspect of the ongoing struggle. He urged the committee to continue collaborative discussions and work persistently towards achieving legal supremacy and revolutionary success.
During the meeting, discussions were held on criminal enforcement measures by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, judicial procedures implemented by the Ministry of Justice, and guidelines (draft) for judicial activities to be followed by township-level public administrative bodies. Additionally, topics such as prison-related issues were presented and deliberated. Attendees engaged in extensive discussions and shared feedback throughout the session.

๐๐ 2. CRPH and Federal Affairs Ministry Discuss Matters Related to Federal Democratic Union Transition Period

The Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and the Federal Affairs Ministry of the National Unity Government (NUG) held a video conference on January 23, 2025 (Thursday), at 2:00 PM to discuss matters concerning the transition period towards establishing a Federal Democratic Union.
During the meeting, the Union Minister for Federal Affairs presented updates on Federal Transitional Arrangements (AFTA), including agreements, fundamental principles, key considerations, and proposed plans for future implementation.
Participants, including members of the Federal Affairs Committee and the ministry, engaged in Q&A sessions to clarify their concerns. Discussions also covered collaborative efforts for federal knowledge-sharing and training programs, with agreements made to continue joint initiatives for effective implementation.
The meeting was attended by the Chairperson and members of the Federal Affairs Committee, NUG’s Union Minister for Federal Affairs, Dr. Lian Mun Sar Khaung, Deputy Ministers Mine Win Htoo and U Chit Tun, as well as other key officials.

๐๐ 3. Union Minister of Justice Meets with Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament to Discuss Interim Constitution

The National Unity Government’s Union Minister of Justice and representatives from the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament convened a video conference on January 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM to discuss judicial matters related to the draft Interim Federal Constitution.
During the meeting, Union Minister U Thein Oo and Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament Chairperson U Myint Htway delivered opening remarks. Representatives from the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament provided updates on the progress of the draft Interim Federal Constitution, analysis of its provisions, future implementation plans, and judicial aspirations of the Sagaing Federal Unit.
Subsequently, attendees, including the Union Minister and other officials, reviewed and shared feedback on the draft constitution. Parliament representatives also provided clarifications and addressed concerns raised by participants.
The meeting was attended by Union Minister U Thein Oo, senior officials from the Ministry of Justice, the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and parliamentary representatives.

๐๐ 4. IIMM Chief Meets Over 100 Rohingya Activists and Civil Society Representatives at Cox’s Bazar Refugee Camps

During an official visit to Bangladesh, Khun Jรกn, the head of the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM), met with over 100 Rohingya activists and representatives from civil society organizations at the Cox’s Bazar refugee camps. This was announced by the IIMM on January 24.
"The Rohingya individuals I spoke with expressed their disappointment that even seven and a half years after the clearance operations, the conditions are still not conducive for their safe return. They emphasized the need for a safe, dignified, and voluntary repatriation process, as well as lasting stability in their homeland," said the IIMM chief. "To achieve this, it is critical to end violence targeting civilians and ensure justice for these crimes," he added.
The IIMM expressed gratitude to the Bangladeshi government for its consistent cooperation in investigating the horrific crimes committed during the 2017 clearance operations and the ongoing communal violence in Rakhine State.

Anti-junta protestors in Mandalay posted warning flyers near the long bridge by the west gate of Mandalay Palace, targeting collaborators of the military junta. Dr. Teza San, leader of the Mandalay People’s Protest, confirmed this on January 24.
"We not only aimed to awaken the people at the west gate of Mandalay Palace, where Min Aung Hlaing is obsessively reconstructing the palace like a delusional king, but we also issued warnings to the junta's collaborators with these flyers. Simultaneously, we carried out anti-dictatorship public movements near the northern moat and the southeast corner of the palace walls, where junta informants and ‘S’ personnel are known to operate," he said.
Dr. Teza San urged the citizens of Mandalay and the entire country to recognize their shared responsibility in the fight for liberation from the junta's rule.

๐๐ 6. "Myanmar Spring Revolution – The Flag Will Not Fall" Movement to Be Held in Tokyo, Japan

A "Myanmar Spring Revolution – The Flag Will Not Fall" protest is set to take place in Tokyo, Japan.
"February 1 marks the fourth year since the military unlawfully seized power in Myanmar. Despite the brutal and illegitimate coup, the unwavering determination and extraordinary resilience of the people continue to challenge the junta, which is facing significant losses. Meanwhile, the future federal democratic victory is within reach," the statement said.
Myanmar nationals in Japan are encouraged to participate in the "Myanmar Spring Revolution – The Flag Will Not Fall" movement to voice their stance and solidarity with the people of Myanmar.
Participants are invited to bring their preferred posters, flags, or banners to the protest. The event will occur on February 1, starting with a march and culminating in a rally in front of the SAC’s fascist tax office in Shinagawa, where chants and protests will continue.
