The Acting President has reiterated that the goals of "building a federal democratic union" and "eradicating military dictatorship" will not be abandoned. Speaking at the National Unity Government's 1/2025 cabinet meeting on January 7, Acting President Duwa Lashi La emphasized:

"I would like to state that 2025 is a year in which our National Unity Government must embark on self-reform. However, this self-reform will solely focus on implementing effective and impactful changes in methods and structures. Our original objectives of 'building a federal democratic union' and 'eradicating military dictatorship' will never be forsaken. I want to reaffirm this once again. We do not fear change. In fact, it is because we seek change that we continue to move forward as a revolutionary government," said the Acting President.

Additionally, the Acting President urged ministries to outline the upcoming processes required to engage with the public effectively, emphasizing the importance of maintaining strong connections with the people.

Prime Minister Mahn Win Khaing Than, at the cabinet meeting held on January 7, urged efforts to accelerate the revolutionary momentum.

"This year, our National Unity Government has numerous tasks to address in political, diplomatic, and military arenas. There are also many areas demanding attention. Along with boosting revolutionary momentum, this is a critical time when we must work diligently across all sectors without neglecting discussions on political matters, international dynamics, and more. Among the many tasks ahead, I have identified three key priorities that must be tackled swiftly within these upcoming months," said the Prime Minister.

He further highlighted the need to strengthen existing advantages, effectively address weaknesses, and continue advancing the revolutionary journey.

The Sagaing Federal Union Parliament held discussions with the Sagaing Forum Federation on January 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM via Zoom.

During the meeting, the Speaker of the Sagaing Federal Union Parliament and a representative from the Sagaing Forum Federation delivered opening remarks. The Sagaing Federal Union Parliament then presented an update on the status of its draft interim constitution (first draft) and outlined future processes.

Following the presentation, representatives from the Sagaing Forum Federation discussed collaborative efforts regarding the parliament's upcoming activities. The meeting successfully concluded at 3:30 PM.

The meeting was attended by the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, members of the Sagaing Federal Union Parliament, and representatives of the Sagaing Forum Federation.

Topics included upcoming processes for advancing the revolution, ensuring the rule of law in the region, and implementing public welfare activities more effectively than before.

The meeting, held in Depayin Township, involved open and transparent discussions between revolutionary groups and ministry representatives about the specific tasks to be carried out in accordance with NUG policies.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 5. Chinese Actor Wang Xing Rescued from Human Trafficking

On January 7, Khaosod reported that Chinese actor Wang Xing, also known as Xing Xing among fans, was rescued safely from Myanmar after falling victim to cross-border human trafficking.

It was revealed that Wang Xing was initially deceived by someone posing as a representative of GMM Grammy, a prominent Thai entertainment company, through messages on the WeChat platform.

Wang arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok on January 3 and was later transported to Mae Sot District, where he was illegally taken across the border into Myanmar.

According to Police Major General Techarit Pitaneelaboot, director of the Thai Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (TICAC), Wang admitted that after crossing the border, he was manipulated and lacked the ability to resist.

GMM Grammy has publicly denied any involvement in the incident, issuing a clear statement in Chinese to disassociate itself from the matter.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 6. Over 90 Killed in Tibet Earthquake

A powerful earthquake struck the western region of China near the Nepal border on the morning of January 7, causing significant destruction in Tibet. Over 90 fatalities have been reported, with the death toll continuing to rise. The Chinese Ministry of Emergency Management has declared a Level 2 emergency response.

Nearly 1,000 homes in Tibet were destroyed, and 130 people sustained injuries, while more than 90 were confirmed dead.

The earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.1 as recorded by the U.S. Geological Survey, was centered about 50 miles northeast of Mount Everest at a depth of 6 miles. However, Chinese authorities reported it as a 6.8 magnitude quake.

The tremor was also strongly felt in eastern Nepal, but no significant damage was reported there.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 7. Launglon People's Defense Force Medical Team Assisted Over 7,000 People in 2024

The Launglon People's Defense Force (PDF) has announced that their Medical Team provided medical assistance to over 7,000 people throughout 2024.

From January 1 to December 31, 2024, the team, with support from the National Unity Government's (NUG) Ministry of Health and both local and international benefactors, successfully delivered healthcare services to citizens and resistance fighters in Launglon Township.

According to the Launglon PDF, their Medical Team supported a total of 7,453 individuals during the year, contributing significantly to the community's healthcare needs.
