๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. KNLA Awards Cobra Battalion Commander with Thura Medal

The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Central Command has awarded Major Saw Dar Baw, Commander of the Cobra Battalion, with the Thura Medal in recognition of his exceptional bravery and leadership, according to a KNU statement.
This honor was conferred by G1 General Saw Tarmalar Thaw, Chief of Staff of the KNLA Central Command, in recognition of Major Saw Dar Baw’s successful operations against the SAC's Aung Zeya Column, a strategic state-level force of the junta.
The medal ceremony took place on January 31 during the 76th Anniversary of the Karen Revolution Day near the Asia Highway in Duplaya District, Kawkareik Township.
The event, which opened with tributes to the Karen national flag and revolutionary martyrs, featured remarks from Battalion Commander Major Saw Nel Dartu.
Attendees included G1 General Saw Tarmalar Thaw, Major General Saw Nel Dartu of Division 6, Cobra Battalion Commander Major Saw Dar Baw, and other commanding officers and soldiers from various units.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 2. Junta’s Military Factory in Myaing Attacked with Short-Range Missiles

The People's Defense Force (PDF) from Barmate claimed responsibility for launching short-range missiles at the junta's military factory Ka Pa Sa (Factory No. 2) in Myaing Township, Magway Region.
The attack occurred at around 5:30 AM on February 1, involving five short-range missiles, according to the PDF statement.
Explosions reportedly damaged buildings within the compound, though details on the extent of destruction are still under investigation.
In response to the attack, the Barmate PDF stated on its social media page, "Don’t ask what February 1 means. It’s the fourth anniversary of shattered futures and lost hopes under dictatorship. On this day, we struck back as much as we could against the military regime."

๐ฉ๐ฉ 3. KNLA Coalition Captures Mae Ple Strategic Base

A strategic base of the junta located in Mae Ple Village, Beelin Township, Mon State, was fully seized by KNLA coalition forces on February 1, frontline sources confirmed.
Despite fierce resistance from junta forces, which included heavy artillery and air support, the base was completely captured around 1:30 PM on that day.
The junta, which had stationed around 100 troops at the base, had been under siege since early January. The final offensive lasted about a month, culminating in the successful capture.
Weapons, ammunition, and military equipment, including Howitzers, were seized, while some junta personnel were reportedly captured. Detailed reports from the KNLA coalition are still pending.
BPLA Commander Maung Saung Kha, who participated in the battle, stated on social media, “On the fourth anniversary of the military coup, the united efforts of allied forces have captured the strategic Mae Ple base as a gift to the people.”
However, the junta's repeated heavy artillery and airstrikes displaced nearly 3,000 residents from Asu Chaung, Piti, and Mae Ple village groups, who are now in urgent need of assistance.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 4. Fierce Fighting in Talote Leaves Numerous Junta Soldiers Dead

A fierce battle erupted in Talote Village, Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region, resulting in the deaths of over 10 junta soldiers and the loss of one resistance fighter, according to Talote People's Defense Force (PDF).
The fighting began around 5 AM on February 1, with junta forces utilizing heavy artillery and air support to repel the attack.
During the four-and-a-half-hour-long battle, the junta conducted eight Mi-35 helicopter strikes, two jet fighter raids, and three Y-12 bombing runs, alongside heavy artillery fire.
The PDF stated that over 10 junta soldiers were killed, while the resistance suffered one fatality and five injuries.
Additionally, a local woman was killed, and several others were injured by junta airstrikes.
Due to a shortage of ammunition, resistance forces withdrew, but junta forces continued bombing the area and burning down houses in the aftermath.
Currently, over 1,000 households in Talote have fled, and urgent humanitarian assistance is needed, according to reports.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 5. SAC Troops Loot Livestock, Motorbikes, and Rice, Vandalize Properties in Mying Township

The Central Region Joint Forces reported that SAC (State Administration Council) troops, retreating after a deployment in Nyaung Twin Village, Mying Township, Magway Region, looted livestock, motorbikes, and rice from local residents while vandalizing properties.
After staying overnight in Nyaung Twin Village, the SAC military convoy returned to Mying Industrial Zone (2) on February 1. On their way, they reportedly seized five cows, ten goats, six motorbikes, and rice while destroying remaining properties in the village.
For nearly a month, the SAC troops carried out operations across Mying Township, burning down houses. The destruction included 29 homes in Kyaung Kone Village and one house each in Than Pya Yar Chone and Chaung Nar villages.
Clashes with resistance forces also ensued, resulting in six SAC soldiers killed and 26 injured. Five members of resistance forces sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
During this operation, more than ten villages were forced to evacuate for safer grounds, with over 13 days of displacement reported so far.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 6. Airstrike in Tharyar Kan Village, Pauk Township: 3 Civilians Killed, 3 Critically Injured

Successful Force – Pauk announced that three civilians were killed, and three others were critically injured in an airstrike in Tharyar Kan Village, Pauk Township, Magway Region.
On February 1, around 12:39 PM, a jet fighter from Meiktila Shan Tae Airbase reportedly bombed the village.
The attack claimed the lives of Ko Zaw Lin Soe and his wife, as well as Ko Wet Kyi, a worker from Than Bo Village. Three others suffered critical injuries, and eight homes were destroyed.
The report highlighted that the SAC frequently targets civilian villages with airstrikes, carrying out these brutal assaults without any active battles.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 7. Two Suspects Arrested for Drug Trafficking in Tantse Township

In Tantse Township, Shwebo District, Sagaing Region, a coordinated operation led by the Township Public Security Force, guided by the Township People's Administration, resulted in the arrest of two drug traffickers.
On January 30, 2025, at around 4:30 PM, U Pho Yae (alias Win Naing) and U Maung Kyaw were apprehended at their homes, where authorities found six packages of green opium wrapped in yellow tape, nine smaller clear packages of green opium, totaling 9,895.6 grams, along with two mobile phones and MMK 2 million in cash.
The suspects have been detained, and charges have been filed under Section 19(a), 20(a), and 21 of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law, case numbers MaYa(P) 1/2025 and MaYa(P) 2/2025.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 8. 136 SAC Troops, Including One Major, Seek Refuge with the People in January

The Ministry of Defense under the National Unity Government (NUG) announced that 136 SAC personnel, including one officer at the rank of major, defected and sought refuge with the people in January 2025.
Among them, 82 surrendered with their weapons. They were reportedly awarded commendation allowances based on the types of arms they turned in.
These defectors contacted People's Defense Forces (PDFs), the People's Embrace Coordination Committee, and allied ethnic revolutionary forces to join the side of the people.
In light of forced military conscription under the SAC, civilians and defectors are encouraged to seek refuge with the people by contacting the People's Embrace Telegram channel @MyanmarPeople or nearby PDFs and ethnic revolutionary forces.
