๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 4. Justice For Myanmar Welcomes the Removal of Bharat Electronics Limited from Sweden's Pension Investment Portfolio Due to Arms Sales to Myanmar

March 20
Radio NUG

Justice For Myanmar has welcomed the decision to remove Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) from Sweden's pension investment portfolio due to its sale of military equipment to Myanmar.

Over the past four years, Justice For Myanmar has published multiple reports exposing BEL's sale of military weapons and equipment to the Myanmar military.

As of April 2023, within a six-month period alone, military equipment worth over USD 5 million, intended for direct use by the Myanmar military, was included in these transactions.

In March 2024, BEL transferred and sold a control system for a three-dimensional surveillance radar to the Myanmar military. Justice For Myanmar, citing shipping records it has obtained, reported that this sale was part of ongoing transfers of military equipment to Myanmar.

Justice For Myanmar spokesperson Ma Yadana Maung stated,
"We welcome Sweden’s pension fund's decision to remove BEL from its investment portfolio, as the company has supported and facilitated the Myanmar military’s international crimes for years. This decision sends a clear message to BEL that doing business with the Myanmar military not only violates international law but also constitutes a highly irresponsible investment. AP7 and all other BEL investors should follow this lead and immediately withdraw their investments."
