๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 4. Myanmar's Fascist Military Will Inevitably Face Defeat and Surrender Soon

March 26

Myanmar's fascist military will inevitably face a humiliating defeat and be forced to surrender in the near future, according to a statement written in March by U Maung Maung Myint, the NUG representative to Norway.

“The Myanmar military, which has repeatedly staged coups and betrayed the constitution and the country, has now transformed into a fascist army that oppresses and massacres its own people while committing war crimes. Just as the Myanmar people once revolted against the fascist Japanese forces, they are now resolutely fighting against the current fascist military. Just as the fascist Japanese forces that once ruled Myanmar were ultimately crushed in a disgraceful defeat, the present-day fascist military is also on the verge of suffering a similar fate and will soon be forced to surrender,” he stated.

The terrorist military council continues to suffer frequent attacks by revolutionary forces along the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway. Additionally, in regions such as Sagaing and Magway, the junta has effectively lost territorial control.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 5. Civil Society Organizations Call for the Withdrawal of BIMSTEC Summit Invitation to Military Leader Min Aung Hlaing

March 26

Myanmar civil society organizations advocating for human rights have called for the withdrawal of the invitation extended to junta leader Min Aung Hlaing to attend the upcoming BIMSTEC Summit.

The demand follows reports from Thai news agencies stating that Min Aung Hlaing has been invited to participate in the BIMSTEC high-level meeting, scheduled to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, on April 3 and 4.

Justice For Myanmar, a human rights advocacy group, strongly condemned the plan to include the war criminal Min Aung Hlaing in the summit, stating that such an arrangement blatantly insults the democratic aspirations and human rights of the Myanmar people.

Additionally, Defend Myanmar Democracy (DMD), a civil society organization, has denounced the Thai government's decision to invite Min Aung Hlaing to the summit. The group warned that welcoming a war criminal with a red carpet would not merely be a diplomatic engagement but could make Thailand complicit in his crimes.

DMD further cautioned that such a move could be seen as a betrayal of the people of Myanmar and undermine fundamental principles of regional justice and democratic cooperation.

The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) comprises India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, and Sri Lanka, focusing on peace, economic growth, and social development in the region. Given this mission, human rights organizations are urging BIMSTEC member states not to recognize Myanmar’s military regime and to exclude Min Aung Hlaing and his representatives from high-level meetings.

Although ASEAN has excluded Myanmar’s military leader from its summits, BIMSTEC has continued engaging with the military junta. Records indicate that in 2022, the bloc invited Min Aung Hlaing to sign its charter. Additionally, Myanmar’s military regime was permitted to attend the BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Sri Lanka that same year.

Further, in 2024, the junta was granted host status for the 4th BIMSTEC National Security Chiefs Meeting, demonstrating ongoing recognition and engagement by the organization despite international condemnation.
