๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Civilian Killed, Over 20 Injured as Military Jets Bomb AA-Controlled Kyauktaw Town

April 19

At dawn on April 19, the military junta launched airstrikes on Kyauktaw Town in Rakhine State, an area under the control of the Arakan Army (AA), killing one civilian and injuring over 20 others, according to local sources.

The airstrikes reportedly occurred between 2:30 AM and 3:00 AM, targeting multiple wards across the town, including Myothit Ward, Pyitawtha Ward, and Shan Ywar Ward.

Sources said the junta used jets and rockets, dropping a total of 10 bombs, including 500-pound and 300-pound bombs. The targeted areas included the Department of Agriculture, Kata 6th, 7th, and 8th Streets in Pyitawtha Ward, as well as parts of Myothit and Shan Ywar Wards.

The attack occurred while civilians were still asleep. A 38-year-old man living on Kata 6th Street was killed, 21 others were injured, and unexploded ordnance remains in some areas, residents reported.

A similar airstrike was also conducted on April 13, during the Thingyan holiday period, injuring another civilian, according to records.

These attacks continue despite calls for a ceasefire. During a recent meeting with junta chief Min Aung Hlaing, ASEAN Chair and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urged an end to military offensives. The junta has disregarded these calls and persisted with aerial bombings.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. At Least 15 Junta Troops Injured During Failed Offensive to Retake Moe Bye

April 19

Early this morning, around 5:00 a.m. on April 19, the junta launched a major assault with over 100 troops, supported by drones and heavy weaponry, in an attempt to recapture Moe Bye town. The attack was met with strong resistance, resulting in at least 15 junta soldiers sustaining injuries, according to a statement from the Southern Shan Military Division.

Moe Bye town is currently under the joint control of allied revolutionary forces, including the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) and units from the Southern Shan Military Division – Strategy No. 1, within the broader Karenni Regional Command.

Reports indicate that the junta's large-scale offensive triggered intense clashes as People's Defense Forces (PDFs) confronted the advancing troops using defensive drones and counterattacks. Due to significant casualties, the junta troops were forced to retreat to the 422nd Light Infantry Battalion base.

The fighting, which lasted approximately two hours, also resulted in two resistance fighters sustaining injuries. In addition, one large assault drone was lost in the battle.

The Southern Shan Military Division – Strategy No. 1 has issued an appeal to both domestic and international supporters to urgently assist in replacing the lost drone.

Given the ongoing threat of renewed fighting at any time, the command has also issued a public warning urging civilians to thoroughly assess ground conditions before traveling through or near Moe Bye.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 7. TNLA Says 43 Drug Users in Namhsan District Rehabilitated and Released

April 19

The Palaung State Liberation Front / Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) announced that it had completed a six-month rehabilitation program for 43 drug users in Namhsan District and released them on April 9.

According to the statement, the individuals included 25 drug users from Namhsan Township, 5 from Mantong Township, and 13 from Thibaw Township. All underwent character and behavioral rehabilitation at the PSLF/TNLA's designated rehabilitation center.

The group stated that the individuals had been sent to the center either after being apprehended by the Ta’ang police force or voluntarily handed over by their families or guardians seeking help for their rehabilitation.

Under current policy, drug users undergo six months of rehabilitation upon their first offense. A second offense, however, results in a three-year prison sentence.

PSLF/TNLA records also note that in March, a total of 120 drug users — 85 from Mogok Township and 35 from Momauk Township — were similarly rehabilitated and released.

Prior to Operation 1027, drug usage was widespread across Ta’ang territory. However, since assuming control, PSLF/TNLA has been enforcing rule of law measures and has successfully cracked down on drug trafficking and abuse, the group stated.
