๐๐ 1. “We must not forget that it is the people who direct where the rifle should be pointed,” says Interim President Duwa Lashi La
May 5 – Radio NUG
Interim President Duwa Lashi La stated, “We must not forget that it is the people who direct where the rifle should be pointed,” during his speech at the 4th Anniversary Ceremony of the founding of the People’s Defence Force (PDF).
“As the People’s Defence Force is an armed organization, if it lacks a deep sense of responsibility regarding the use of arms, it risks becoming a danger to both the country and the people. What I am emphasizing today is the importance of a strong political understanding in the context where both armed struggle and mass movement exist side by side. The core principle of the PDF is to protect the people—not to turn against them. This must be taken seriously and deeply understood. We must fire like fire upon the enemy and flow like water upon the people. We must act fiercely toward the enemy, and gently toward the people.
It is the people who ultimately determine where the rifle, held by PDF fighters and revolutionaries, should be aimed. We must never forget that it is the people who serve as the compass for that direction,” said the Interim President.
He further reiterated that the ultimate authority of the People’s Defence Force rests with the people.

On the occasion of the 4th anniversary of the People’s Defence Force (PDF), Union Ministers from the National Unity Government (NUG) extended their well-wishes and tributes.
“We wish to express our gratitude on behalf of the people for your brave and persistent participation over the past four years, as well as for your continued role in the fight to dismantle the dictatorship. We urge the public to continue supporting the PDF and its fighters with the same spirit of solidarity—that every member of the PDF is a beloved child of the people.
We ourselves will continue to stand alongside the sons and daughters of the people, fulfilling our duties and fighting on until the Spring Revolution achieves victory,” said Dr. Win Myat Aye, Union Minister of Humanitarian and Disaster Management.
He added:
“After the military, which should have protected the people, abandoned its role and lost its moral legitimacy as an institution, it was the youth of the PDF who stood up over the past four years. As true citizens of the 21st century, they courageously sacrificed their lives and dreams to redefine what a military should represent in a country and in society. Through their sacrifice and relentless struggle, they entrusted victory after victory into the hands of the people.
May the PDF, which has become both a revolutionary and nation-building force, be embraced by the hearts of the people. We salute and honor you with deepest respect.”
Union Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said:
“May the PDF members become valiant defenders of the people, capable of breaking every form of dictatorship. May they become the beloved sons and daughters of the people, cherished and trusted by all, and uphold the soldier’s code with unwavering commitment.”
She further added:
“Let the NUG be a government that can offer steadfast guarantees for the sacrifices made by the PDF until the very end. May the PDF rise as a people’s military force that truly protects the country and its citizens.”

๐๐ 4. The People’s Defence Force is a nightmare and source of immense pressure for the junta that seized power at gunpoint – Union Minister U Htin Lin Aung
May 5
Radio NUG
The People’s Defence Force (PDF) has become a nightmare and a significant source of pressure for the military dictatorship that seized power at gunpoint, said Union Minister for Communications, Information and Technology, U Htin Lin Aung, on May 5.
“The voices calling for the establishment of a Federal Army began to rise at the outset of the 2021 revolution. As people took up arms in response to the brutal oppression of the fascist military, the People’s Defence Force (PDF), rooted in the will of the people, was formed. It has now been four years since then. The emergence of the PDF has become the largest retaliatory movement and a powerful force of resistance against the military dictatorship. For those who have unlawfully clung to power for decades through the use of guns, it is a terrifying nightmare and an unrelenting pressure. That is why, in this revolution, which has come at the cost of countless lives, blood, and sweat, I extend my deep respect and admiration to all who continue to fight at the frontlines,” said the minister.
