NUG honors resistance forces involved in the drone attack on Tada-U Air Base.
1. Duwa Lashi La Calls for Unity Toward a Federal Democratic Union
NUG Acting President Duwa Lashi La has urged the people of Myanmar to continue moving forward with unity and determination until a genuine Federal Democratic Union is established.
Speaking at an International Day of Democracy event organized by the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), he said the sacrifices made by generations of people must not be allowed to go to waste.
He stressed that everyone has a responsibility to honor those sacrifices and leave a better union for future generations.
Duwa Lashi La also said efforts are underway to develop the SCEF as a broad revolutionary coalition to help build a new federal democratic country.
He said the revolution must simultaneously carry out both resistance and nation-building responsibilities, requiring leadership that is flexible and responsive to changing circumstances.
The Spring Revolution, he added, is fundamentally a struggle to establish a new country based on federal democracy.
2. KNLA Seizes Junta Outpost; Six Conscripts Reportedly Flee
KNLA-led forces reportedly captured a junta military outpost in the KNU’s Mutraw (Papun) District on September 14.
According to KNU-Mutraw District, forces from KNLA Brigade 5, Battalion 102 and allied units seized three MA-1 rifles, ammunition and other military equipment during the operation.
Separately, a 40-year-old junta soldier from Light Infantry Battalion 357 under Military Operations Command 12 reportedly defected in the Phalan Phi area on September 13, bringing an MA-1 rifle and ammunition with him.
Meanwhile, in Magway Region’s Saw Township, six newly conscripted soldiers reportedly fled from a roughly 300-strong junta column.
The soldiers reportedly abandoned uniforms bearing the insignia of the 99th Light Infantry Division between Laung Shey and Taung Bo Gyi on September 12.
They were reportedly unarmed and had not yet made contact with resistance forces. Local residents were advised to remain cautious of unfamiliar people and of the military column operating in the area.
3. Pastor Killed After Encountering Escaped POWs in Tedim
A Christian pastor was reportedly shot dead by prisoners of war who had escaped from a PDF Zoland detention facility in Tedim Township, Chin State.
The victim was identified as Rev. Dalthawntuang, pastor of the Baptist church in Lamzang village.
He was reportedly traveling with his brother from Tuitawh village at around 4 p.m. on September 14 when they encountered the escaped prisoners near Kaptel Bridge.
Rev. Dalthawntuang was killed at the scene, while his brother was injured. Another civilian was reportedly taken away by the escapees to serve as a guide.
In Karenni State, junta forces also reportedly attacked Thayap village in Nanmekhon with two drone-dropped bombs and one artillery shell on September 14, killing a local man aged around 40.
The following morning, junta aircraft reportedly carried out at least four strikes in western Demoso Township despite no fighting being reported in the area.
Two women had also been injured in a drone attack on the Taung Thone Lone displacement camp east of Loikaw on September 13.
4. Junta Major Killed in Pandaung; Fighting Reported in Chin and Central Myanmar
A junta major stationed at the Nyaung Kyo outpost in Pandaung Township, Bago Region, was reportedly killed by artillery fire during fighting on September 15.
The 37-year-old officer, Major Wai Kabar Soe, was also known for providing astrology services and selling two-digit lottery numbers on social media.
He reportedly died during fighting near Defense Products Factory No. 16 involving the Arakan Army (AA) and allied forces.
In Chin State, the Zomi National Army (ZNA) reportedly attacked a camp belonging to the junta-aligned Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA) in Tedim Township on September 13. Three ZRA members were reportedly killed and three firearms seized.
Meanwhile, fighting has intensified in Tada-U, Ngazun and Natogyi townships following the September 10 drone attack on Tada-U Air Base.
Junta forces have reportedly responded with ground offensives as well as daily air attacks involving fighter jets, gyrocopters and drones.
Thousands of residents have been displaced from villages in the affected townships and are reportedly in need of food and humanitarian assistance.
5. Six Junta Soldiers Reportedly Killed in Tanintharyi Convoy Ambush
Six junta soldiers were reportedly killed when resistance forces ambushed a six-vehicle military convoy in Tanintharyi Township.
The convoy was traveling from Tanintharyi toward Myeik when resistance forces attacked near Chaung Nyi Ko village at around 10 a.m. on September 12.
The resistance forces reportedly used small arms and an RPG, which struck one of the military vehicles.
The Kyunsu Township People’s Defense Force said all six soldiers aboard that vehicle were killed.
The resistance groups involved in the attack reportedly suffered no casualties.
6. Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun Addresses UN as Asia-Pacific Group Chair
Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun, addressed the UN General Assembly on September 14 in his capacity as rotating chair of the Asia-Pacific Group, comprising 55 member states.
His appearance came one day after Myanmar’s military authorities issued a statement claiming that his activities at the United Nations were illegitimate.
The General Assembly held a memorial session for the late King Harald V of Norway, during which representatives of the UN’s regional groups delivered tributes.
Speaking on behalf of the Asia-Pacific Group, Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun described the late king as a symbol of unity, compassion and dignity during his 35-year reign.
He also praised the king’s commitment to peace, human rights and sustainable development and said his humility and connection with people from all walks of life helped shape a modern and enduring monarchy.
The Myanmar delegation led by Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun is attending the opening of the 81st UN General Assembly and is expected to participate in its main committees and related meetings.
7. Veteran Journalists and Filmmaker Ko Pauk Launch Myanmar Global Media
Professionals from journalism, documentary filmmaking, digital technology and research have jointly launched a new independent news organization called Myanmar Global Media (MGM).
MGM says it aims to deliver verified news about Myanmar to domestic and international audiences as well as policymakers around the world.
The organization was founded under the leadership of veteran journalist Ma Ingyin Naing, who has more than two decades of experience with VOA and RFA.
Filmmaker, screenwriter and activist Ko Pauk is also a co-founder. He is known for documenting the Spring Revolution through films including The Roads Not Taken and Rays of Hope, which were filmed using a mobile phone and presented to international audiences.
Other members reportedly include professionals with extensive VOA experience as well as journalists and environmental activists. Additional veteran journalists are involved but have not been publicly identified for security reasons.
MGM has also partnered with Federal FM, a media organization based in Karenni State, to bring news from the region to international audiences.
The organization says it is an independent media outlet and has no institutional affiliation with VOA, RFA or the organizations where its members previously worked.
8. NUG Honors Forces Behind Tada-U Air Base Drone Attack
The National Unity Government has formally honored resistance forces involved in the September 10 drone attack on the junta’s main Tada-U Air Base in Mandalay Region.
The NUG described the base as one used to conduct repeated airstrikes against civilians.
According to its statement, PDF and local defense forces led by the Myingyan District military command carried out the operation.
The NUG said the operation successfully targeted an area where Yak-130 military aircraft were stationed. It also claimed that five junta personnel, including Air Defense Colonel Myo Hlaing Oo, were killed during the ground operation.
Three resistance fighters were also killed during the operation. The NUG paid tribute to them and expressed condolences to their families.
The NUG said the People’s Defense Force would continue intensifying operations against key military installations until military dictatorship is eliminated.
