The Secretariat of the Federal Support Coordination Committee (FSCC), which facilitates collaboration between the Union Government and State/Federal Units under the NUG, held a meeting with the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament via Zoom on December 13 at 4:00 PM, according to reports.
The meeting was attended by Union Ministers Dr. Lian Mone Sa Khong and U Lwin Ko Latt, along with other members of the FSCC Secretariat. The Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament delegation included its Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and parliamentary representatives. Opening remarks were delivered by Union Minister Dr. Lian Mone Sa Khong and the Sagaing Parliament Speaker U Myint Thway.
During the meeting, the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament shared updates on its ongoing efforts and plans concerning the draft interim federal constitution. FSCC representatives also provided their views on the activities of the Sagaing Parliament, engaging in a candid and open dialogue. Both parties reached a mutual agreement to maintain communication and coordinate future efforts as necessary. The meeting concluded successfully at 6:00 PM.

๐๐ 2. Civil Society Organizations to Release a Statement on ASEAN’s "Myanmar-Led Solution"

Civil society organizations (CSOs) will release a statement on December 16 addressing ASEAN's "Myanmar-led, Myanmar-owned solution" approach to resolving Myanmar's worsening crisis. This announcement was shared by Blood Money Campaign.
The statement is spearheaded by the Myanmar National Organizing Committee for ACSC/APF (Myanmar NOC) and has garnered support from over 260 CSOs.
At the ASEAN Summit in October 2024, held in Vientiane under Laos' chairmanship, ASEAN declared its intention to assist Myanmar in achieving a comprehensive, inclusive, and sustainable peace resolution through a "Myanmar-led, Myanmar-owned solution."
During the release event, participants will present the perspectives of Myanmar’s CSOs regarding ASEAN’s approach. Discussions will explore the true meaning of a genuine "Myanmar-led, Myanmar-owned solution" and propose recommendations for ASEAN to better support a sustainable resolution that benefits both Myanmar and the region.
Myanmar NOC has invited media, journalists, diplomats, policymakers, CSOs, and all stakeholders advocating for genuine peace, democracy, justice, and accountability in Myanmar to attend the statement release event. The event will be conducted in both Myanmar and English, with live interpretation provided.

๐๐ 3. South Korean President Faces Impeachment Vote

On December 14, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol faced a successful impeachment motion in parliament, according to reports.
The motion passed decisively with 204 votes in favor, 85 against, 4 abstentions, and 8 invalid votes, surpassing the 200 votes required for approval. Among those who supported the motion, at least 12 members came from the ruling party.
Following the announcement, opposition Democratic Party members applauded, while ruling party members reportedly sat in silence, as per BBC Korea.
"The end of this year will bring more joy for the South Korean people. Canceled New Year plans can now be revived, and the future of South Korea lies in the hands of its people," said Speaker Woo Won-sik.
Despite the impeachment vote, President Yoon declared he would not back down. "With the people by my side, even after enduring two and a half years of challenges, our journey will not stop. There will never be a moment where I surrender," he stated.
The impeachment process is expected to take months, with President Yoon's official suspension pending a formal notification to the Constitutional Court. Until then, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo is set to assume duties as acting president.

๐๐ 4. Twelve Beggars, Including One Myanmar National, Arrested in Bangkok

On the night of December 12, Thai authorities arrested 12 foreign beggars, including one Myanmar national, as part of a crackdown in Bangkok, according to a report by the Bangkok Post.
This operation was conducted along Sukhumvit Road, from Asok intersection to the Nana area, following complaints that large groups of beggars were tarnishing the country’s tourism image. Immigration officers, Lumpini police, and officials from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security inspected Bangkok's commercial areas in response.
The operation resulted in the arrest of eight Thai nationals, two Cambodians, one Laotian, and one Myanmar citizen. Authorities also revealed that four of the foreign beggars are facing additional charges for illegal entry into Thailand.
One of the arrested Thai beggars was found carrying more than 300,000 baht in cash and reportedly had around 1 million baht in her bank account, which she claimed to have accumulated from begging.
