๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Formation of Ramonnya Mon Army for Full Self-Determination of Mon State and Swift End to Military Dictatorship

To realize a Mon State with full self-determination and to bring about a swift end to the military dictatorship, the Ramonnya Mon Army (RMA) has been formed, according to a joint statement released by the New Mon State Party – Anti-Dictatorship (NMSP-AD) and the Mon Liberation Army (MLA).

The statement, released today on May 24, declared that the formation of this new force stems from a shared objective to eliminate military dictatorship, establish equality, and promote the emergence of a Mon State with full rights to self-determination.

It was also announced that the Mon National Liberation Army – Anti-Dictatorship (MNLA-AD) and the Mon Liberation Army (MLA) have merged to establish a new armed force called the Ramonnya Mon Army (RMA), also referred to as “Dapman Ramonnya.”

In addition, a Mon National Liberation Army Political and Military Committee comprising 26 members has been established. This committee includes members from both the MNLA’s political and military leadership as well as the MLA leadership. The following appointments were made:

  • Chairperson: Nai Zeya
  • Vice Chairperson: Nai Laye Kaung
  • General Secretary: Nai Banyar Lel

Under the leadership of this committee, a Military Affairs Committee has also been formed to oversee RMA’s military operations. The committee includes seven members, and the following key appointments were confirmed:

  • Commander-in-Chief: Major General Salun Thaw
  • Deputy Commander-in-Chief (1): Major Kyi Soe Win
  • Deputy Commander-in-Chief (2): Senior Major Kyay San

The joint statement further declared that to realize a Mon State with full self-determination and to swiftly dismantle the military dictatorship, NMSP-AD and the Ramonnya Mon Army (RMA) will align with fellow oppressed ethnic revolutionary allies and people’s defense forces across the country and enter into combat operations in solidarity.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Chin Defense Forces Jointly Resist Military Offensive Advancing into the Chin Hills

As the military junta launched a large-scale offensive into the Chin Hills, local revolutionary defense forces have begun mounting a coordinated resistance, according to a statement by the CDF CDM Siyin group.

The offensive, which began around May 18, triggered ongoing clashes starting from May 21 between the junta troops and local defense forces, including CDF CDM Siyin, PDF Zoland, and CDF KKG.

The statement reports that the junta launched the operation with over 800 troops, resulting in the displacement of more than 1,000 civilians from communities in the Chin Hills.

Local sources also confirmed that various Chin revolutionary forces have joined hands in resisting the advance of the military’s heavily armed column into the region.

In response to the offensive, CDF CDM Siyin announced that the Kalay–Thantlang Highway has been temporarily closed since 11:00 AM on May 20, citing security concerns.

The group also issued a warning that they will not be responsible for any incidents that may arise during the road closure period and urged the public to strictly follow the emergency announcement.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Woman Killed, Two Injured, and Five Houses Damaged Due to Heavy Weapon Shelling by Junta Troops in Thaton Township

A woman was killed, two others injured, and five houses damaged due to heavy artillery shelling by the junta’s military in Thaton Township, within the Kawthoolei administrative area of the Karen National Union (KNU), according to a statement from the KNU Central Command.

On May 21, at around 8 p.m., without any active fighting taking place, troops from Junta Battalion No. 314 under the military council fired two rounds of 120mm heavy artillery shells into Pandikone Village, located in the Kadeephyu Village Tract of Thaton Township.

As a result of the shelling, a 48-year-old woman from the village was killed. Another 48-year-old woman and her 11-year-old daughter were injured by the artillery blasts, and five houses were reportedly destroyed, according to the KNU statement.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Two Junta Soldiers Killed, Four Injured in Attack by Resistance Forces on Military Tax Office in Launglon Town

Resistance forces launched an assault on the junta's Revenue Department office in Launglon Town, Dawei District, resulting in the deaths of two junta soldiers and injuries to four others, according to a statement released by the local joint resistance forces.

The attack took place on the morning of May 21, around 10:30 a.m., targeting the tax office located within Launglon Town, and was confirmed by the local joint forces in Dawei District.

The coordinated assault on the junta-controlled tax office was carried out jointly by Dawei District Joint Forces, Nway Oo Guerrilla Force, Federal Duwun Star Force, the Student Revolution Group, and Daung Guerrilla Column-7. It has been reported that none of the resistance fighters sustained injuries during the operation.
