๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. GSCB Urges Indian Government Not to Unilaterally Erect Fences Amid Myanmar's Ongoing Political Instability

May 24

The General Strike Coordination Body (GSCB) has formally urged the Government of India to refrain from taking unilateral actions such as erecting border fences during this period of ongoing political instability in Myanmar.

This appeal was made in a statement released today, May 24, in response to the killing of members of the People's Defense Force (PDF) of Tamu District near the Myanmar-India border. The incident involved the deaths of PDF members under unclear circumstances, allegedly connected to the Indian border security force.

The GSCB called on the Indian government to conduct a full and transparent investigation into the incident, ensure accountability for any wrongdoing, and take concrete measures to prevent such occurrences from happening again.

According to available reports, on May 14, ten members of the Tamu District PDF—who had been temporarily deployed near the village of Kam Magyi on the Myanmar side of the border—went missing. Their bodies were later recovered on May 16 through coordinated negotiation from the 1st Battalion of the Assam Rifles, a unit of India's border security forces.

The GSCB also announced that it stands aligned with the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the National Unity Government (NUG) regarding this incident.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 3. Pyi University Students’ Union Announces Support for Civilians in Pyi District Seeking to Relocate to Liberated Areas

May 24

The Pyi University Students’ Union (PUSU) has announced that it will provide assistance to civilians from Pyi District who wish to relocate to liberated territories.

According to a statement released by PUSU on May 23, civilians—including both local residents and youth in Pyi District—who wish to escape the military junta’s conscription law and cooperate with revolutionary forces may contact the union for assistance in reaching liberated areas.

PUSU stated that military junta troops have been conducting successive raids in Pyi District, targeting not only civilian homes but also charity organizations and monasteries, where they have been detaining young people. Furthermore, ward and village administrators have been extorting money from residents under the pretext of the conscription law, adding significant pressure on already distressed local communities.

Local residents also report that some young people in Pyi District have been unable to reach revolutionary territories due to lack of connections with resistance groups.

PUSU warned that the junta’s weekly conscription operations have now reached their 13th round, and urged young people to exercise heightened caution for their safety.

As military activity intensifies throughout Pyi District, PUSU has also encouraged civilians to remain alert to potential airstrikes and heavy artillery attacks. The union called on young people at risk of forced conscription to seek protection from the nearest revolutionary forces.

It is reported that in 2025, there has been a noticeable increase in the junta’s arbitrary arrests of youth in Pyi, Paukkhaung, Shwe Taung, and Pantanaw townships in Bago Region.
