After the Arakan Army (AA) launched an attack on the military junta’s Dhanyawadi naval base in Kyaukphyu, Rakhine State, the junta retaliated with airstrikes on locations within Kyaukphyu Township, according to reports.
On the night of February 21, the AA initiated an assault on the Dhanyawadi naval base near Thitpottaung village using heavy artillery. This led to intense clashes around the naval headquarters and nearby villages.
Following the attack on the naval base, the junta conducted aerial bombardments on Shaung Chaung and Saing Kyun villages at approximately 7:00 PM on February 23, according to local sources.
Currently, the junta is carrying out aerial attacks in combination with naval artillery shelling and drone bombings. As a result, thousands of residents from the villages of Pyate, Oo Khin, Sittaw, Shaung Shaung, Si Maw, Saing Kyun, Saing Kyun Dein, Kat Krettein, Dome Taung, and Thapyay have been forced to flee their homes.
Kyaukphyu Township is home to key junta military installations, including the Dhanyawadi naval headquarters, Police Battalion 32, Light Infantry Battalions (LIB) 542 and 543, as well as the Taung Maw Gyi naval base. The township also contains crucial revenue sources for the junta, such as natural gas projects, oil pipelines, a China-led Special Economic Zone, and deep-sea ports, making it a strategically significant area.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 2. Ten Junta Soldiers Killed, One Captured Alive in Min Kin Ambush

The People’s Defense Force (Pa Ka Pha) of Kale District has reported that ten junta troops were killed and one was captured alive following an attack on a military convoy in Min Kin Township, Sagaing Region.
On the morning of February 21, a joint convoy of junta forces and Pyu Saw Htee militia, numbering over 100 troops, departed from the Pyu outpost in Pan Set village and launched an assault on the resistance base at Bo Thant Lone outpost.
As the military column advanced, it was ambushed in the forests west of Thintaw and Nyaung Pin Thar villages by joint resistance forces, including Kale District’s People’s Defense Force, Special Attack Rocket Battalion (Unit 2), UCLA battalion, and Min Kin Township PDF Battalion.
Subsequently, reinforcements arrived, including Min Kin PDF Battalion 4, Min Kin Pa Ka Pha Mobile Unit, Min Kin Township Local Defense Forces, Kani Pa Ka Pha, Kyauk Lone Gyi Group, SRF, Mahura Dragon Group, Sagaing Battalion 3, and Chin Twin Resistance Group. The combined resistance forces encircled the junta troops and launched a coordinated assault.
As casualties mounted and the column became trapped, the junta deployed fighter jets for air support. Eventually, by late evening, the remaining junta forces withdrew.
During the battle, the resistance forces seized three handmade rifles, one carbine rifle, five MA rifle magazines, six carbine magazines, two grenades, two Icom radios, 120 rounds of carbine ammunition, fifteen 7.62mm rounds, fifteen 5.56mm rounds, one mobile phone, and five medical kits from the junta troops.
Additionally, one junta soldier was captured alive, and four corpses were recovered. The Kale District Pa Ka Pha further reported that the junta column suffered heavy casualties, with at least six more soldiers confirmed dead.
On the resistance side, three fighters from Special Attack Rocket Battalion (Unit 2) and one from Let Chain village Pa Ka Pha sustained minor injuries but were not in critical condition.

In Chauk Township, Magway Region, resistance forces launched an attack using heavy artillery on junta troops engaged in forced labor near the Zichokpin village and the Myawaddy TV office, according to a statement from the Arlawa Guerrilla Urban Force.
On February 23, junta soldiers performing forced labor near the Myawaddy TV office were targeted with heavy weaponry. The number of casualties remains under investigation.
The attack was jointly carried out by the Arlawa Guerrilla Urban Force, Ye Nan Gyaung Revolution Civilians Force (YRCF), Chauk Revolution Force (CRF), Chauk Guerrilla Force (CGF), the People's Defense Force (Pa Ka Pha) of Chauk Township, Magway District’s Production and KPG PDF battalions.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 4. Three Resistance Fighters from Daung Nyi Naung Column Killed in Uttu Village Battle

Three resistance fighters from the Daung Nyi Naung military column were killed in a battle in Uttu village, Sar Yet Chaung Township, Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region, according to a statement from the Laung Lone Township People's Defense Force.
The clash occurred on February 21, during which three members of the resistance, namely Yuttu and Wek Nge from Sar Yet Chaung Pa Ka Pha Battalion 1, and Sdot from Dawei Naga Battalion 2, were killed in action.
The Laung Lone Pa Ka Pha expressed deep sorrow for their loss, stating that the fallen heroes sacrificed their lives for the people and the nation's struggle for federal democracy. They reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the fight against dictatorship and to building a federal democratic union in honor of the fallen resistance fighters.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 5. Airstrike on Halta Village, Haka Township, Injures Five Civilians, Including Two Children, and Destroys Three Homes

On February 23, at approximately 1:00 PM, the military junta carried out an airstrike on Halta Village in Haka Township, injuring five civilians, including two children, and destroying three houses, according to a statement from the Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO).
Residents of Halta Village had only recently returned to their homes on Friday after previously fleeing due to ongoing clashes between Kalay and Gangaw. However, they soon found themselves targeted in the bombing.
Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the victims were not life-threatening, reports indicate.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 6. Military Junta Conducts Aerial Bombings in Taungtha and Nyaung-U Townships

In Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, the junta’s air force bombed the monastery in Chone Gyi Village, completely burning down the entire monastic structure, according to the Taungtha Township People’s Movement Committee.
The attack occurred at around 1:30 AM on February 23, despite the absence of any ongoing clashes. The bomb directly hit the monastery, causing it to be completely engulfed in flames. Fortunately, there were no casualties, as no monks were residing there at the time of the attack.
That same morning, at around 1:30 AM, the junta also carried out an incendiary bombing on Man Lel Village in Nyaung-U Township. Several houses were burned down during the assault, and two civilians sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Additionally, Battalion 3 of the junta’s forces in Myingyan District has issued a notice urging civilians to refrain from traveling along the Maline-Taungtha road for 24 hours starting from February 24.

On February 24, two soldiers from the military junta defected from Haka town, seeking refuge with their weapons and ammunition, according to a statement from the Senthang Revolution Force (SRF).
The defectors surrendered with two MA-1 rifles and were reportedly rewarded with monetary incentives and other valuable items.
