During discussions and critiques of the draft interim federal constitution of the Sagaing Federal Union, there were some deliberations on specific points, but no comprehensive opposition, according to U Myint Htway, Speaker of the Sagaing Federal Union Parliament. He announced this via social media on February 24.

“It is observed that while there were discussions and critiques on certain aspects of the draft interim federal constitution of the Sagaing Federal Union, there was no outright opposition. This indicates that under the Spring Revolution and the federal system, everyone is able to reach an agreement.

There were specific articles, sub-articles, and clauses that faced objections, modifications, or calls for removal. However, recognizing these concerns gives us strength for the journey ahead. Even when objections arise, we fully understand that they stem from the intention to improve the system, the union, and the welfare of the people,” he stated.

The Drafting Commission of the Sagaing Federal Union's interim constitution submitted the first draft to the Sagaing Federal Union Parliament on October 25, 2024. The second draft was released in February 2025.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 5. Outbreaks of Skin Diseases and Diarrhea in IDP Camps in Gwa and Demoso Townships

Radio NUG

In Rakhine State’s Gwa Township, more than 1,790 men, over 2,000 women, 600 children under the age of 10, and 600 children aged 10-18 are in urgent need of medical assistance due to skin diseases, according to the Gwa Township IDP Assistance Coordination Group.

“In collaboration with healthcare workers, we have been conducting field inspections, surveys, and awareness campaigns on the prevention and management of skin diseases. Additionally, we are distributing the prescribed medications to those suffering from skin conditions,” stated a representative of the Gwa Township IDP Assistance Coordination Group.

The outbreak reportedly began over two months ago, initially manifesting as itching on the hands before spreading across the body, leading to rashes and sores, according to Ko Naing Aung Lin, the spokesperson for the Gwa Township IDP Assistance Coordination Group.

Apart from Gwa Township, similar cases of skin diseases—characterized by itching, rashes, and scabs—have been reported in Pauktaw, Minbya, Thandwe, and Ramree regions. Due to a shortage of medical supplies, complete recovery has not yet been achieved. The Arakan Army (AA) medical teams, along with other healthcare professionals, are providing treatment.

Similarly, in western Demoso Township, Karenni State, an outbreak of diarrhea has been reported at the Waryone Taw IDP camp, particularly affecting children. One child has been hospitalized, according to an IDP camp committee member who spoke to KPV News Agency.

The majority of affected children are under five years old, including four children under two years of age. The hospitalized child is just one year old.

Additionally, some immunocompromised adults have also been affected. Due to water shortages, the planned construction of a reservoir has not yet materialized. Residents have been advised to boil their drinking water as a precautionary measure.

In February 2022, a severe outbreak of diarrhea affected the entire IDP camp due to water scarcity. Similar issues persist in villages across Shadaw Township, where skin infections linked to water shortages continue to spread.

These reports were submitted by Radio NUG correspondents Min Thihan and Khur Shel.
