๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. NUG Minister for Justice U Thein Oo Attends Transitional Justice Coordination Meeting

The Transitional Justice Coordination Meeting was convened on June 21, 2025, at 3:30 PM Myanmar Standard Time, under the leadership of the Department of Rule of Law and Transitional Justice.

The meeting was attended by government officials from nine ministries of the National Unity Government (NUG) who had previously completed an intensive long-term training on Transitional Justice.

Union Minister for Justice U Thein Oo delivered the opening remarks, representing the Ministry of Justice.

Following the opening, Union Minister U Thein Oo also provided guidance remarks concerning transitional justice implementation.

Subsequently, the officials who had completed the transitional justice training presented their ongoing activities, and discussed the tasks that lie ahead in the transitional justice process. The session also included interactive discussions, mutual exchange of perspectives, and proposals among the participants.

Representatives from the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament and relevant officials from the Sagaing People's Defense Force (PDF) held a video conference discussion on June 23, 2025, at 9:00 AM.

The session began with opening remarks by the Chairperson of the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament, after which both sides engaged in a frank and open exchange of questions and perspectives.

The discussion centered on the activities of the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament and possible areas for collaboration with the Sagaing PDF, focusing on enhancing joint operational efforts.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 3. Two Shaanxi Y-8 Military Aircraft Bearing Myanmar Air Force Markings Spotted at Kunming Airport, China

According to Myanmar Witness, two Shaanxi Y-8F-200W military transport aircraft, believed to be soon deployed by the Myanmar Air Force (MAF), were sighted at the Kunming International Airport in the People’s Republic of China. The report was released on June 23.

The aircraft are identified as strategic transport aircraft and are labeled with the Myanmar Air Force insignia. Notably, their tail numbers—5923 and 5924—have never been seen before, marking them as newly acquired units.

Previously, the Y-8F-200W aircraft with tail number 5922 was introduced into service in December 2024.

The Myanmar military junta’s air force is reportedly expanding its fleet of Y-8 aircraft, emphasizing their logistical transport capabilities and multi-purpose operational utility.

International monitoring sources indicate that the junta currently operates at least seven Y-8 transport aircraft in its air force fleet.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 4. Former Political Prisoner and Renowned Writer Nyein Ae Aye Passes Away

Writer Nyein Ae Aye (a.k.a. U Kyaw Kyaw Oo)—a former political prisoner, participant in the Hmine Yar Pyay Uprising, and widely known as the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of Tharaphiu Magazine—passed away at around 12:00 noon on June 23 at Pinlon Hospital in Yangon, due to cancer, at the age of 69, according to reports.

Nyein Ae Aye actively participated in the 1976 Hmine Yar Pyay Uprising and was a former member of the Communist Party of Burma. He was also a former political prisoner and a major figure in Myanmar’s postmodern literary scene, having spearheaded the publication of Tharaphiu Magazine during the early 1990s.

In 2024, after being hospitalized due to dizziness, he was diagnosed with cancer and had been receiving treatment since then.

Following his passing, members of both the literary and political communities have expressed their deep sorrow. His funeral ceremony is scheduled to be held at Yeway Cemetery in Yangon on June 25 at 11:30 AM.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 5. Min Tat – Matupi Road Now Reopened After Repairs Completed

The Public Administration Team of Min Tat Township has announced that the Min Tat–Matupi Highway, which had sustained damage and landslides, has now been fully repaired and is open for use again starting from June 24, 2025.

The road had been damaged due to heavy rainfall, and repairs using machinery began on June 18, 2025 to address landslides and other structural issues.
