Myanmar Military News Updates – Jul 05, 2025 Evening

🚩🚩 1. SAC Launches Airstrikes on AA-Controlled Ann and Myebon Townships in Rakhine

On July 4, the military junta carried out aerial bombardments using fighter jets on Ann and Myebon townships in Rakhine State, areas currently under the control of the Arakan Army (AA), according to local sources.

In Ann Township, the junta reportedly dropped two bombs from fighter jets at around 12:00 noon targeting a school building in Pyintaw Ward, completely destroying the structure. Nearby civilian houses also sustained damage due to the blasts.

The junta’s airstrike occurred despite no reported clashes on the ground following the AA’s takeover of the Western Command Headquarters in Ann on December 20, 2024—suggesting the attack was unprovoked and executed after the military had vacated the base.

Similarly, at around 1:00 p.m. on July 4, the junta launched an airstrike on Kan Htaung Gyi Town in Myebon Township, dropping a 500-lb bomb. The strike resulted in the deaths of two civilians and injuries to at least five others, according to some local media outlets.

Residents stated that the attack on Myebon followed directly after the bombing in Ann, and homes in Kan Htaung Gyi suffered extensive damage.

These air raids are part of a pattern of near-daily attacks by the junta targeting civilian-populated areas. According to military conflict records, similar bombings were previously carried out in Minbya Township on June 19 and Ponnagyun Township on June 22.

🚩🚩 2. Mobye PDF Urges Continued Morale and Renewed Effort to Reclaim the Town

In Karenni State, following the fall of Mobye Town to junta forces, the Mobye PDF Rescue Medical Team (MPRT) is urging the public and resistance fighters not to lose morale or let sacrifices be in vain, and to redouble efforts to retake the town.

Mobye Town was reportedly lost after more than six months of joint offensive operations by the junta, supported by its allied militias PNO/PNA. The junta employed overwhelming force, deploying drones, chemical weapons, incendiary bombs, heavy artillery, and aircraft, according to the MPRT.

The fall of Mobye, according to the MPRT, is not attributable to any one individual. “We all share responsibility—not as blame, but as duty. And from this, we’ve learned invaluable lessons and identified critical needs. We believe we’ll come back stronger,” the statement read.

The MPRT also expressed deep sorrow for the heroic fighters who sacrificed their lives while defending the town and protecting civilians on the front lines.

The statement affirmed confidence that, despite the junta’s current control, Mobye can and will be reclaimed.

They called on all relevant resistance stakeholders—joint forces, commanders, battalion and column leaders, and frontline troops—to remain steadfast and work toward a strategic and determined counter-effort to retake the town.

🚩🚩 3. Village Administrator in Magway Executed for Conscription and Collaboration with Military

In Magway Township, the local revolutionary force reported that a village administrator was executed on July 3 at around 1:00 p.m. for collecting military conscription fees and forcibly enlisting three civilians.

The administrator, identified as Bo Win Thei, from Nga Saung Village in Thityargauk Sub-township, was shot dead by a revolutionary alliance team for cooperating with the military junta.

He was reportedly responsible for collecting fees ranging from 20,000 kyats per household and handing over three local civilians to be conscripted into junta military service.

The mission was jointly carried out by the Magway Urban Guerrilla Force, Nagar Min People's Defense Force (Taung Twin Gyi), and Taung Twin Gyi Fighter Force.

Local resistance groups in Magway District had previously warned junta collaborators and election supporters not to engage in the junta's illegal upcoming election.

The forces have reiterated that those who defy these warnings and assist the junta will be targeted and eliminated without hesitation.

The allied resistance forces operating in Magway have pledged to continue attacks until the military dictatorship is completely dismantled. They urge civilians to avoid junta areas and cooperate with the resistance, stating that public support is critical for ending military rule.
