August 15

Urban revolutionary groups reported that the ward administration office of Ward 14, Hlaingtharyar Township, Yangon Region, was attacked with mines while a meeting for the junta’s illegal election was underway.

On the night of August 14, around 10:00 p.m., soldiers providing security for the meeting of the administrative team were attacked with high-powered mines.

It is reported that both meeting attendees inside the office and security personnel (soldiers and police) outside were injured in the attack.

Local witnesses said that after the explosion, junta forces fired back with guns, and ambulances were later seen arriving at the scene.

This operation was jointly carried out by the Urban Guerrilla Force and the North Okkalapa People’s Defense Force (PDF).

The Urban Guerrilla Force warned that anyone aiding the junta’s sham election — which is aimed at oppressing the people and prolonging Min Aung Hlaing’s rule — is considered an enemy of urban UG forces and will continue to be targeted.
