๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Nearly 150 Soldiers Killed in November Clashes in Southern Military Region

December 14
The National Unity Government’s (NUG) Ministry of Defense reported today, December 14, that nearly 150 soldiers from the military council were killed during battles in November between the Revolutionary Joint Forces and the military junta’s troops in the Southern Military Region.

During November, there were 42 direct clashes between the Revolutionary Joint Forces and the junta’s troops, 38 drone attacks on junta bases and military convoys, and at least 19 instances of shelling with mines and heavy artillery by the revolutionary forces, according to the PDF Southern Military Region.

Additionally, in November, the Revolutionary Joint Forces — comprised of KNLA, PDF, and BPLA units — captured and seized weapons, ammunition, and supplies from two junta camps (Kuseik Camp and Ma Thaw Camp) in the Hpapun Township of Karen State.

The November clashes resulted in the death of 149 junta soldiers, injuries to 89, and the defection of six to the People's Defense Forces. On the Revolutionary Joint Forces' side, nine comrades were martyred, 36 were injured, and one drone was lost.

The Southern Military Region also reported that junta forces' violence during November caused 17 civilian deaths and 54 injuries.
Given the lack of precise and reliable information from the ground, the number of casualties on the junta’s side could potentially be higher than currently reported.

The operations in these battles were carried out jointly by various forces, including the PDF battalions, People’s Defense Forces (Local Defense Forces - LDF), Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), Burma People’s Liberation Army (BPLA), the All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF), Mon State Revolution Forces (MSRF), and New Mon State Party's Defense Forces (NMSP), along with drone units.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Arakan Army Captures SKC-5 Command Headquarters in Taungup Township

December 14
The Arakan Army (AA) has reportedly captured the final remaining junta stronghold in Taungup Township, the Operational Command Headquarters No. 5 (SKC-5), according to military sources and local news outlets.

The Arakan Army took complete control of SKC-5 on December 13 after junta troops surrendered. Reports indicate that several soldiers, including high-ranking officers, raised white flags and surrendered during the assault.

The capture follows a series of earlier victories by the Arakan Army in the region, including the takeover of ten military camps in Taungup Township and two battalions (346 and 544). These developments culminated in the capture of SKC-5, the main operational headquarters.

As of this morning, December 14, the AA has not yet released an official statement regarding the capture. However, it is reported that the AA is now advancing toward capturing the remaining junta-controlled camps in western command areas, including the Napakha Western Military Command in Ann Township and remaining camps in Gwa Township.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Fighting Erupts Near 8-Mile Gate in Moekaung Region Following Junta Assault, KIA Reports

December 14
On December 12, around 6:30 PM, approximately 300 troops from the military council, SNA, and Pyu Saw Htee forces launched an attack on the 8-Mile Gate in the KIA Brigade 9, Battalion 44 area in the Moekaung region, resulting in intense fighting, according to KIA sources.

The junta forces included troops from Battalions 381, 382, and Light Infantry Battalion 105, supported by artillery from a base in Sar Maw. The KIA responded with defensive counterattacks.

Junta artillery fire caused civilian casualties and property destruction, according to local residents, with homes damaged or destroyed. The KIA has confirmed ongoing clashes but detailed reports on casualties remain unavailable due to disrupted communication lines in the region.

The 8-Mile Gate is located on the Moekaung–Hpakant Road. While the KIA maintains positions in the area, junta and allied forces' aggression has led to frequent battles throughout this year. The KIA, along with the KPDF, has also launched offensives on junta camps and supply routes in the region, exerting control over key access points to and from Hpakant.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Junta Forces Reinforce Troop Presence in Khaunglanhpu Area, KIA Says

December 14
The junta is reinforcing its military presence in the Khaunglanhpu area of Kachin State, conducting heightened military activities, according to the KIA’s communications department.

The junta has stationed troops near villages along its movement routes, restricting locals from leaving their villages without being questioned or searched. The military's activities have intensified following the capture of Shwanprabwan Township by the KIA and its allied forces earlier this year.

The KIA and its allies captured Shwanprabwan on May 5, gaining control of key positions in the region. However, the escalating military presence and clashes have left residents in Khaunglanhpu worried about the possibility of intensified battles.
