๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Western Regional Military Command warned to surrender by raising white flags if remaining soldiers want to survive

December 18

The Arakan Army (AA) has issued another warning to the remaining soldiers of the Western Regional Military Command, based in Ann Township, Rakhine State, to surrender by raising white flags if they want to stay alive.

The warning was made public on the night of December 17, revealing details about captured prisoners during the AA’s operations to seize the Western Regional Military Command headquarters.

A video, lasting 1 minute and 41 seconds, was released, showing captured junta soldiers being tied with ropes and escorted. Among the captives were family members of junta soldiers as well.

"If you raise white flags early, you will live, and you will be reunited with your families and relatives sooner," the AA declared in the video. This message has been consistently disseminated by the AA for two consecutive days.

In a second video released on December 17, the headquarters of the Western Regional Command was seen ablaze, and some of the captured junta soldiers were shown with injuries.

According to recent updates, junta troops and their families remain trapped in the Western Regional Command headquarters and cannot receive reinforcements from the military council.

If the AA manages to completely seize the Ann-based Western Command, it will mark the loss of the military council's second regional command headquarters.

Historically, the military council first lost its Northeastern Regional Command headquarters in Lashio to the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and allied forces in early August this year.

Currently, the AA is continuing its offensives to fully capture the remaining Western Command base in Ann Township and other remaining junta outposts in Gwa Township.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Five, including a junta officer, arrested after fleeing from KNU's former headquarters in Manerplaw

December 18

Five individuals, including a junta officer, who fled from Manerplaw, the former headquarters of the Karen National Union (KNU), have been arrested, according to Karen military sources.

The Manerplaw area was completely seized by joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) on December 16. The five detainees were captured the following day, December 17, after fleeing from the military base.

Nearly all junta forces in the final battle for the Noh Day (Point 913) base in the Manerplaw region were killed. The KNLA captured weapons, including 120mm mortars and small arms, along with ammunition.

Manerplaw, first established as the KNU headquarters in 1977, fell in January 1995 after joint offensives by the military council and the breakaway Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA), according to historical records.

Manerplaw holds historical significance as a site of resistance against military dictatorship and was a hub for tens of thousands of youth during the 1988 uprisings.

After nearly 30 years, the region has now been reclaimed, marking its return to its rightful owners, said individuals familiar with the area's history.

Since the military coup in 2021, the KNU has stood with the people of Myanmar, resisting the junta while also training and cooperating with youth fighting to overthrow military rule. The KNU and allied forces have captured over 140 junta bases since the coup, according to military records.
