๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Ambush Attack on Military Convoy on Kyaikhto-Bilin Road: 6 Soldiers Killed

Date: January 16
In Mon State, a military convoy traveling from Kyaikhto to Bilin along the Yangon-Mawlamyine Highway was ambushed by resistance forces, resulting in the deaths of six junta soldiers, according to an official from the People’s Defense Force Battalion 7805, Unit 4.

The attack occurred on January 14 at around 11:30 a.m. The convoy, comprising seven military vehicles, was targeted with landmines, 40mm grenades, and small arms fire. One of the vehicles was struck by a mine, and subsequent attacks caused six soldiers to die, three others to be injured, and one vehicle to be severely damaged.

The operation was a joint effort between the Karen National Union (KNU) and the PDF Battalion 7805, Unit 4. Reports confirm that no resistance fighters were harmed during the attack.

Additionally, PDF Battalion 7805, Unit 4, has launched a campaign to gather 3,000 rounds of ammunition to support urban operations and has called on the public for contributions to the cause.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Drone and Airstrike Attack in Kawkareik Kills One Civilian

A man was killed and another injured in a drone and airstrike attack carried out by the junta forces in Kawkareik Township, under the jurisdiction of the Karen National Union’s (KNU) Dooplaya District, Brigade 6, according to a KNU statement.

Although there was no active fighting in the area, on January 14, the military deployed drones to drop bombs, injuring two civilians. A 57-year-old man sustained severe injuries and died while being transported to the hospital. Another casualty, a 27-year-old man, suffered injuries.

The junta has consistently targeted villages in KNU-controlled areas using drones, airstrikes, artillery, and heavy weaponry, causing frequent civilian deaths and injuries. On January 7, in Naunglaybin District, Moenyo Township, the junta reportedly detained a 35-year-old man from Kamulo Village and executed him with gunfire.

Similarly, on January 10, artillery shelling by junta forces in Thaton District, Brigade 1, hit Ngakhpyautaw Village in Kyaikhto Township, injuring a woman and damaging homes. The attack also destroyed 6.5 million MMK in cash and seven ticals of gold stored in one of the homes.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Attack on Junta Base in Palaw Township

Resistance forces attacked a junta outpost stationed at the Padaseik Tawya Pagoda in Palaw Township, Tanintharyi Region.

On January 9, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a coalition of the People’s Defense Force Battalion 1 of Myeik District, the Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) Battalion 7, and other allied groups launched an offensive against the junta base.

In response, the military deployed two Mi-2 helicopters and two K-8W fighter jets, carrying out 23 airstrikes and dropping around 70 bombs to defend their position. The intense battle ended around 6:00 p.m. the same day.

The clash reportedly resulted in six junta soldiers killed and approximately eight others injured. On the resistance side, four members of the PDF Battalion 1 and three members of KNDO Battalion 7 sustained minor injuries but were not in critical condition.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Two New Recruits from the Military Defect to the Kyo Kyar Ni Battalion with Weapons

Two new conscripts from the military’s recruitment efforts have reportedly defected to the Kyo Kyar Ni Battalion under the Bithanoe PDF (People’s Defense Force) in eastern Magway Region, bringing their full armament with them.

The defectors, both new recruits, were sent to Battalion 422 under the Military Council, stationed in Mobye, Kayah State. They arrived with two firearms and a number of ammunition rounds. Reports state that one of the defectors is from Salin Township and was forcibly taken from his farm to undergo military training in Batch 5. The other recruit, hailing from Shwebo Township, had been conscripted into Batch 1 through the involvement of the local village administrator.

At present, arrangements are being made for the defectors to integrate into the Revolutionary Forces in line with their requests. One of them is being facilitated to reunite with his family in his hometown, while plans are underway to enable the other to join as a revolutionary fighter.

It is understood that these two recruits had been in contact with the Kyo Kyar Ni Battalion since December 2024 and had planned their defection. However, the public announcement has been delayed due to security concerns.

Previously, in a similar incident, two conscripts sent to Battalion 422 in Mobye had also defected to the Kyo Kyar Ni Battalion and participated in battles to dismantle military rule, as recorded in earlier reports.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. Armed Village Administrator in Kyun Pyaw Town Assassinated

An armed village administrator from Kyun Pyaw Township, Ayeyarwady Region, which is heavily secured by the Military Council, was shot dead in an assassination yesterday, local sources report.

The administrator, Myint Thaung, who was the head of Nyaung Pin Zeik Village, was assassinated near Phaw Taung School in the morning of January 15.

Myint Thaung, appointed by the Military Council, was known to carry a firearm and worked closely with soldiers from Battalion 36 to arrest residents based on political motives. He extorted wealthier individuals by demanding large sums of money in the hundreds of thousands of kyats and coerced others who couldn’t pay to join the military as recruits.

According to the Special News Unit of Pathein, Myint Thaung also played a role in collecting recruits for the military and was involved in other oppressive acts, such as confiscating loans meant for agricultural purposes.

As of this morning, January 16, revolutionary groups have not released any statements regarding the assassination.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. Pyu Saw Htee Leader Collecting Recruits Shot Dead in Tada-U

A leader of the Pyu Saw Htee militia, tasked with recruiting new military personnel, was shot dead in Tada-U Township, Mandalay Region, according to the Dragon Tiger Guerrilla Force based in Myinchan.

The incident occurred at around 1 PM on January 15, when the militia leader, Chit Win, was returning from farmland near Taung Ta Lone Village. He was confronted and attempted to resist with a pistol but was killed in the ensuing clash.

Chit Win had reportedly been cooperating with the Military Council, providing intelligence on People’s Defense Force (PDF) camps, burning down villages, and participating in acts of oppression against civilians. His assassination was carried out as part of revolutionary efforts, according to the Dragon Tiger Guerrilla Force.

The operation led to the seizure of a pistol, 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition, three mobile phones, two knives of varying lengths, an ID card, and a driver’s license.

Following the incident, the Military Council deployed an Mi-35 helicopter at around 5 PM on January 15 to conduct aerial bombardments near the village.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 7. CNDF Invites Youths to Join the Revolution

The Chin National Defense Force (CNDF), based in Chin State, has issued a public invitation for young people interested in joining the revolution to enroll in their basic military training program.

The announcement, released on January 15, calls for new recruits for a three-month training course scheduled to begin in 2025. The CNDF aims to recruit individuals who are committed to eradicating military rule and building a federal union.

The training is open to young men and women aged 18 to 35 who meet the following criteria: physically fit, in good health, capable of adhering to military discipline, and willing to serve for at least one year in the CNDF. Recruits must also be prepared to undertake assignments in any location as needed.

As part of the Chinland Defense Organization, the CNDF is actively involved in operations, including the ongoing offensive to capture Falam Town. Reports indicate that the CNDF has gained control of the town and continues to target the headquarters of Battalion 268 under the Military Council.
