๐๐ 1. Union Minister Dr. Tu Hkawng Emphasizes Awareness of How Dictatorships Build Power by Exploiting Nationalism and Religion
January 16
Union Minister Dr. Tu Hkawng has urged the public to remain vigilant, highlighting that all forms of dictatorship often consolidate power by exploiting nationalism and religion.
On January 16, Dr. Tu Hkawng expressed his views:
"The government’s largest revenue source is derived from jade and gem exhibitions originating in Kachin State. However, these are only small, visible aspects of the issues impacting the Kachin people. There are also various forms of discrimination that cannot be explicitly mentioned. While these issues arise from the centralized governance system, over time, the Burman-centric system becomes solidified and is perceived as the norm. In reality, this centralized political system does not benefit the Burman population as claimed—it serves as a tool of dictatorships.
It is crucial to raise awareness of the fact that all dictatorships exploit nationalism and religion to build their power. This revolution is akin to crossing a river on the back of a buffalo—it is about creating a new era by transforming our thoughts and perspectives from the ground up."
He also noted that the oppressive military regime has perpetuated a culture of systemic discrimination against both men and women, as well as ethnic minorities.

Deputy Minister for Human Rights U Aung Kyaw Moe has called for collective action in the revolution and urged empathy toward the Rohingya community.
On January 16, he stated on social media:
"We are already doing what needs to be done and addressing what is necessary. Let our actions speak for themselves. Stop the pretense and grandstanding. Cease making statements on social media about what 'should' or 'must' be done. Instead of focusing on what others are doing or not doing, ask yourself what you are doing.
The Rohingya community has already lost everything, to the point that they have nothing left to lose."
