๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. TNLA Announces Continued Joint Operations with KIA for Nationwide Liberation, Warning That Liberation of a Few Cannot Guarantee True Freedom
May 29
Radio NUG
Despite occasional clashes on the ground due to territorial issues, the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) affirmed on May 28 that it would continue joint military operations with the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) for the liberation of the entire country, according to TNLA’s Joint General Secretary, Major Tar Parn La, during a media briefing.
"We have consistently maintained coordination with our ally, the KIO [Kachin Independence Organization]. We hold regular meetings. Moreover, we have signed around three foundational alliance agreements, which had remained intact up until around May 2023.
Regarding the escalated frictions that emerged in 2024 and 2025, we are working extensively to determine how we can continue cooperating and join forces in the broader nationwide revolution.
It is not sufficient for only our region to be liberated. Our allied regions must also achieve liberation. Similarly, all people across the country must be freed. Only then can our own liberation be secured. Otherwise, any liberation we gain will merely be temporary,"
said Major Tar Parn La.
He further added that the conflict between KIO and TNLA arose largely due to the breakdown of political norms and deterioration of trust following the military coup, and that both organizations are in active dialogue about how to overcome such challenges and contribute meaningfully to the broader national liberation struggle.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 2. Anti-Junta Forces Raid Administrative Offices and Residences in Taungtha Town
May 29
Radio NUG
According to a public announcement by the Taungtha Public Movement Committee, resistance forces conducted raids on junta administrative offices and staff housing in Taungtha Town, Myingyan District, Mandalay Region.
The raids began on May 28, targeting the Taungtha Township Land Records Office, the Internal Revenue Department, and the residence of the Administrator of District Office No. 2. On May 29, resistance forces expanded their operations to the staff housing near the Mingalar Oo Gate.
During the operation at the Mingalar Oo Gate, some pro-junta staff informants were arrested. As a result, non-CDM (non-participating civil servants) in Taungtha Town reportedly felt increasingly unsafe and began to flee.
With the junta’s territorial control shrinking, non-CDM staff are said to be experiencing growing fear, while the regime has intensified its airstrike campaigns in response.
Resistance groups have urged civilians to begin constructing bomb shelters systematically, warning that the people must inevitably endure a phase of armed conflict if military dictatorship is to be uprooted completely.

Junta military units currently stationed in Lone Khin have threatened local residents that the town will be bombed if their convoy is ambushed by KIA or PDF forces while en route to Hpakant, according to local sources.
On April 23, a combined force of approximately 600 troops from the junta army, the Pyu Saw Htee militia, and the Shanni Nationalities Army (SNA) launched an offensive along the Karmaing–Lone Khin–Hpakant road. By May 27, this column had reached the Lone Khin dynamite factory, reports say.
The military column reportedly encountered repeated ambushes by joint KIA–PDF resistance forces along the way. As a result, only about 100 troops ultimately reached Lone Khin.
On May 29, the troops stationed in Lone Khin launched an offensive toward Hpakant, bringing along several local civilians as human shields. They threatened to bomb Lone Khin if their convoy were attacked.
Locals also reported that during the troops’ stay in Lone Khin, KIA and PDF forces mounted attacks on May 28, resulting in junta casualties and fatalities.

May 29
Radio NUG
A clash broke out between the military junta’s forces and the United States of Burma Army (USBA) Special Task Force in Magway Region’s Minhla Township, near Shwethaya Village, resulting in the death of one resistance fighter from the USBA Special Task Force, according to reports.
The engagement occurred in the afternoon of May 25, and the fallen fighter has been identified as Hlaing Bwar, who was said to have made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight against the junta forces.
The junta column, estimated at around 80 troops, was formed from personnel drawn from LIB-2, LIB-10, and the Linka police station. On May 20, the column advanced into the Linka area of northern Minhla Township, initiating attacks with drones and heavy weaponry, according to available information.
While this military column was actively operating in the area, another junta column of around 50 troops from LIB-12 entered Htee Yoe Village in Thayet Township using vehicles early on May 23, before proceeding to launch pincer movements toward villages on the northeastern side of Mintone, aiming to encircle and raid the area.
The column reportedly looted civilian property and used supplies by force, taking up night lodgings at the school in Kywelkhan Village. That night, May 23, the Makwe Region USBA Special Task Force launched two surprise guerrilla attacks on the encamped junta troops.
Casualties may have occurred among junta forces during these attacks, though specific figures remain unconfirmed, the statement noted.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 6. Two Soldiers from LIB-558, Forcibly Conscripted under the People’s Military Service Law, Defect with Weapons
May 29
Radio NUG
Two soldiers from LIB-558, who were forcibly conscripted under the junta's People's Military Service Law, defected with weapons on May 29 to the Dawna Battalion within the Byuha (33) Operational Area, according to a press release.
The defectors were previously enrolled in the No. (4) Advanced Training School at Waegali Base, graduating from training batch (6). They are identified as:
- Private Yan Lin Tun, ID No. PS-130986
- Private Nay Thu Aung, ID No. PS-251755
They surrendered with:
- 1 MA3 rifle
- 1 magazine
- 25 rounds of ammunition
and joined the Dawna Battalion under Byuha (33).
Private Yan Lin Tun had completed his 10th-grade education before being abducted during the night and forcibly conscripted into the SAC military.
Private Nay Thu Aung, who had been driving a taxi and transporting passengers in his hometown, was abducted around 11 PM and also conscripted.
Both defectors stated:
“We defected because we oppose the military dictatorship. In every 100 forcibly recruited soldiers, only about 10 truly want to stay in the military. The remaining 90 want to escape. Control within the army has become excessive, and punishments have grown more severe. Security inside the army has deteriorated. Many have attempted to flee. Officers often threaten defectors by saying, ‘They may feed you two meals, but they’ll interrogate you and then slit your throat.’ That’s what they’re told. We’re urging others still inside to contact us and defect as soon as possible. We too plan to continue fighting back against the dictatorship.”
The operational commander of Byuha (33) warmly welcomed the defectors and encouraged remaining junta soldiers not to die in vain, but to join the people’s resistance as soon as possible.
These military updates were reported by Radio NUG correspondents Min Sitt Thway and Khur Shel.
