As of December 29, 2024, revolutionary forces have fully captured and governed 48 townships, constituting 15% of the total administrative area. Additionally, they have achieved partial control over 96 townships, representing 29%, resulting in a combined governance of 144 townships (44%). This information was released by the Ministry of Defense under the National Unity Government (NUG).
The military junta retains control over 107 townships (32%), while active resistance operations are ongoing in 79 townships (24%).

๐ฉ๐ฉ 2. Ambush and Capture of 12 Junta Soldiers Fleeing Ann Township

In Rakhine State's Ann Township, clashes erupted as revolutionary forces intercepted fleeing junta soldiers. Over two days, 12 junta soldiers were captured alive, according to CDF Asho.
January 13, 2024: Five junta soldiers fleeing from a camp near Kyet Yae Zan Village were intercepted near Nyaung Hla Village, Nyaung Phe Township. Four were captured alive after resisting surrender, while one was fatally injured during treatment.
January 14, 2024: Revolutionary forces blocked approximately 100 junta soldiers near Taung Zawk Village. Intense clashes followed due to the junta's refusal to surrender. Three junta soldiers were killed, and eight were captured alive during the area clearance operations.
Seized items included 15 small arms, one sniper rifle, ammunition, and various military supplies. The remaining junta soldiers are being pursued as part of the ongoing area clearance operations.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 3. Clashes Between DPLA and Junta Troops in Kyauk Kuu Region

In Shan State's southern Yatsauk Township, clashes between the Danu People's Liberation Army (DPLA) and junta forces continue in the Kyauk Kuu region.
January 14, 2024: A two-hour skirmish occurred in the Kyauk Kuu region.
January 15, 2024: A civilian was seriously injured by junta artillery strikes, which also destroyed two houses.
Junta forces have been targeting civilian villages indiscriminately with heavy artillery, causing significant damage to homes and infrastructure. Reinforcements sent by the junta indicate that further clashes are likely.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 4. 70 Junta Soldiers Killed in Three-Day Battle Near Kyone Laung Village

In Mon State’s Yay Township, near Kyone Laung (Old Village), a three-day battle from January 9-11, 2024, resulted in the deaths of approximately 70 junta soldiers, including officers, according to the Mon State Revolutionary Forces (MSRF).
Revolutionary forces, including Mon, Karen, and PDF units, engaged junta troops from Light Infantry Divisions 19, 31, 61, 106, 299, 343, 586, 587, 583, 591, and 316.
During the battles, 70 junta soldiers were killed, and more than 30 were injured.
The junta conducted two airstrikes on January 11, 2024, and continues heavy artillery bombardments daily.
Despite the intense fighting, allied revolutionary forces suffered only three injuries with no fatalities. Revolutionary units are actively clearing the area to counter further junta advancements.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 5. Drone and Bomb Attacks on SAC and Pyu Saw Htee Units in Sinlu Village, Pwintbyu Township

On January 15, a joint operation was conducted in Sinlu Village, Pwintbyu Township, Magway Region, where drones were used to drop bombs on SAC forces and Pyu Saw Htee members stationed there. The attack was carried out in collaboration between the No. 4 Battalion of Minbu District and local defense forces, according to a statement from the Central Region PDF.
The attack resulted in significant destruction of SAC encampments, the death of one SAC soldier on duty, and injuries to many SAC and Pyu Saw Htee members. It was reported that three ambulances from Salin Township were used to transport the injured.
The operation was coordinated by the Central Region PDF, the Pakokku Region PDF, the No. 4 Battalion of Minbu District, the Central Region PDF Drone Unit, and allied groups such as Yaung Force (PKU), Earthquake Defence Force (PKU), Joker (Central PDF Special Forces), and Zetotara PAFA.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 6. Repeated Attacks on SAC Convoy Replenishing Ammunition in Ayadaw: Soldier Captured and Negotiations Reported

Over a 12-day period, SAC troops traveling from Monywa to Ayadaw to replenish ammunition supplies were repeatedly attacked and remain stranded along the road, as reported by the Snipe Rangers Force (Local PDF).
On January 9, at approximately 10 a.m., the convoy was first ambushed near Wartan Village using remote-detonated mines and 60mm mortars. Since then, revolutionary forces have employed heavy artillery, mines, drones, and small arms to block and attack the convoy, while SAC forces retaliated with indiscriminate shelling. The artillery unit in Kyauk Sit Bone reportedly fired eight rounds of howitzers to provide cover for the convoy.
On January 14, at around 8:30 a.m., a soldier from SAC’s 909th Battalion, identified as BE officer Tin San Myint, was captured by the Snipe Rangers Force and Special Revolution Force (Dawng Nyi Naung). During interrogation, he confirmed that more than 20 SAC personnel had been injured, with at least four fatalities during the 12-day engagement.
It was further revealed that 10 SAC personnel disguised in PDF uniforms were stationed as guards during the operations. When the unit was raided, nine soldiers escaped, while Tin San Myint was captured. He reportedly confessed to being an SAC soldier due to failure to respond with the correct password during questioning.
The captured soldier is being detained in accordance with revolutionary laws, and SAC reportedly contacted the Snipe Rangers Force through a senior officer, requesting his release.
The 12-day offensive involved collaboration among Snipe Rangers Force (LPDF), Special Revolution Force (Dawng Nyi Naung), NUG/MOD battalions, and other revolutionary groups.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 7. People’s Militia Member Lists and Addresses Acquired; Actions to Follow, Says Unicorn Guerrilla Force

The Unicorn Guerrilla Force announced that they have obtained the lists and addresses of People’s Militia members and their supporters in Mingon and Kyauk Ta villages, following the elimination of Pyu leader Shwe Kyaw and his group in Sagaing Township. They warned that appropriate measures would be taken against those involved.
On January 7, during the evening, Pyu leader Kyaw Myo Tun (a.k.a. Shwe Kyaw), a prominent figure from Sagaing City’s Moe Za Ward, was ambushed and killed along with six others near Mingon as they returned from Sagaing. The operation was carried out by the Unicorn Guerrilla Force, Road to Mandalay Group, and the People’s Servant Force (PSF). Seven people, including Shwe Kyaw and his wife, were killed, and six weapons along with related items were seized.
Following this operation, the Unicorn Guerrilla Force announced that they had obtained records of militia members and their supporters in Sagaing, Mingon, and Kyauk Ta villages. They urged individuals to defect to the resistance promptly and warned that punitive actions would be taken against those who fail to comply.
In retaliation, SAC forces shelled the riverside village of Let Pan in the Ayeyarwady region, set homes ablaze, and caused the death of one civilian. Twenty-five homes were reported destroyed.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 8. Government Land and Properties in North Okkalapa to be Reclaimed

The People’s Administration of North Okkalapa Township issued a notice stating that all sales and acquisitions of government-owned land, buildings, and plots in the area through public tenders or unauthorized transactions are entirely invalid. It declared that all such properties would be reclaimed as state-owned.
The statement emphasized that the military junta, which unlawfully seized power through coercion, is not a legitimate governing entity. The junta has not been recognized as a legitimate government by the United Nations or any other country. Therefore, they have no authority to manage, sell, or transfer ownership of government-owned land and properties, which rightfully belong to the citizens of Myanmar.
