๐๐ 1. Myanmar Food Fair Held in Gimhae, South Korea, to Raise Funds for Earthquake Victims and Displaced Persons from the Conflict

A fundraising Myanmar food fair was held today, May 4, in Gimhae City, South Korea, with the aim of supporting people affected by the recent earthquake and those displaced by the ongoing conflict in Myanmar.
The event was jointly organized by Myanmar youths currently residing in Gimhae, the Gimhae Spring Revolution Group, and local Korean civil society organizations. The fair served as both a cultural showcase of traditional Myanmar cuisine and a humanitarian effort.
Organizers stated that all proceeds from the food fair would be allocated to assist internally displaced persons (IDPs) fleeing conflict, as well as those impacted by the recent earthquake in Myanmar.
U Yan Naing Htun, the National Unity Government’s (NUG) Representative to the Republic of Korea, attended the event and delivered opening remarks expressing solidarity with the revolution. The NUG also issued an official statement regarding the event.
It was reported that not only Myanmar nationals from the surrounding areas but also South Korean citizens participated in and supported the event.

๐๐ 2. Three Military Defectors Who Surrendered with Arms to Minbu District Battalion 2 Awarded Monetary Rewards

Three newly recruited military personnel who defected from the military junta’s forces and surrendered along with their weapons to Battalion 2 in Minbu District were awarded monetary incentives, according to an official statement released by the battalion.
The defectors had previously served under Junta Battalion 417, which operates under the command of the notorious Division 99. The announcement was made on May 4.
These three young men, reportedly forcibly conscripted by the military junta, were accepted in accordance with military protocols and have been rewarded in recognition of their decision to defect.
Minbu District Battalion 2 affirmed its commitment to welcoming junta soldiers who lay down their arms and choose to stand with the people. The battalion also pledged that these defectors would be granted full human rights protections and would continue to receive financial rewards as a part of their reintegration support.

๐๐ 3. Five Junta Officers Killed and Arms Seized as Resistance Forces Overrun Army Outpost in Kyaukkyi Township

Resistance forces successfully overran a junta military outpost stationed in Lwal Wine Gyi Kyun Kone Village, located within Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region. The attack resulted in the deaths of five junta officers and the seizure of a cache of weapons and ammunition, according to a statement released last night by Battalion P2-3702 under District 2 of Bago.
The assault began at 1:00 a.m. on April 28 and the base was fully captured within half an hour, according to the statement.
During the attack, junta forces retaliated with aerial bombardments. On April 28 alone, a Y-12 aircraft dropped a total of 67 bombs in two separate sorties, and jet fighters carried out two additional airstrikes. The following day, April 29, the junta launched another round of bombardments using a Y-12 aircraft (24 bombs), jet fighters (3 airstrikes), and two assaults using Mi-35 helicopters.
The resistance groups reported that junta artillery units based in Nat Than Kwin and Kyauk Tan Khar also shelled the area and launched drone strikes during and after the battle.
Five enemy bodies, including that of a senior officer, were recovered from the battlefield. Many other junta personnel were believed to have sustained injuries, according to the official report.
The assault on the junta’s outpost was a joint operation carried out by People’s Defense Force Battalion 3702, Strategic Drone Unit 25, and KNLA Battalion 9. One resistance fighter reportedly sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the operation.
