The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) are expected to hold talks soon to resolve ongoing issues in northern Shan State and to strengthen their collaborative efforts, according to Colonel Tar Pan La, Joint General Secretary of the TNLA.

He made this statement during a press briefing on political and military affairs organized by the PSLF/TNLA on May 4.

The Political Solidarity and Liberation Front (PSLF) and the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) have maintained a permanent alliance since 1976. The two organizations renewed their alliance agreements in 2013 and 2023, reaffirming their commitment to continued cooperation. Although they had originally planned to meet at least once a year at the central committee level, the intensification of military conflict has prevented them from holding such meetings as scheduled, Colonel Tar Pan La explained.

“We had already signed three agreements in the past, and we had mutual understandings. There are also plans to hold meetings—perhaps very soon—on a yearly basis,” he stated.

Preparations for the upcoming meeting have reportedly been completed, and both sides are now in the process of finalizing the meeting location, according to the TNLA, which affirmed that discussions will take place in the near future.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 3. ICNCC President Warns Against Forming Parties to Contest Elections in Collaboration with the Military Council in Chin State

May 4
Radio NUG

Dr. Khin Tan, the rotating Chair of the Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC), has issued a warning urging the public not to entertain any thoughts of forming political parties to contest elections in collaboration with the military council—an entity that continues to kill civilians and torch villages across Chin State. He delivered this message during the opening speech of the “Northern Chin Final Wave” live session held on May 4.

He called on everyone to stand on the side of justice and further urged those unable to do so not to obstruct those who are taking a principled stand.

“At the very least, do not engage in activities such as preparing to form parties or contesting elections in collaboration with the SAC, an entity that burns down villages, kills people, treats CDM participants as criminals, and is driving the country to ruin. We urge you not to start, not to even consider it—do not bring such intentions into Chin State. We sincerely say this out of goodwill, warning that nothing good will come in the future for those who choose to do so,” he stated.

Dr. Khin Tan clarified that this warning was not issued from a place of hostility, but rather out of sincere concern, emphasizing that any aspirations to gain power through the military council’s unjust means are both futile and ultimately detrimental to the future.

The 16th Citizen of Burma Award Ceremony will be attended by Ko Htein Lin (Kim Aris), son of detained Burmese democracy leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who will accept the award on her behalf, according to an announcement by the Citizen of Burma Award organization.

The ceremony is scheduled to be held on May 24, 2025, in Houston, Texas.

“I am deeply honored to be able to attend the May 24 ceremony and accept the Citizen of Burma Award on behalf of my mother,” said Ko Htein Lin.
“I hold great respect for the Citizen of Burma Award organization and the work they do. I understand that my mother had previously advised and guided the organization in their mission to recognize those who serve the people of Myanmar. She would not see this as a personal honor, but as a tribute to the resilience and bravery of the people of Myanmar who continue to stand firmly against injustice,” he added, confirming that he would personally receive the award in Houston.
