๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. People Bear the Burden of Laashio’s Handover; TNLA Stresses Local Voices Must Be Respected and No Decision Yet on Returning Seized Towns
May 4 — Radio NUG
Unless the current revolutionary movement achieves victory, not only the present generation but also future generations will continue to suffer the impacts of war, said Lieutenant Colonel Tar Pan La, Joint General Secretary of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), during the TNLA’s political and military press briefing held on May 4. He emphasized that efforts to dismantle the dictatorship must persist.
“It’s certain that our ongoing revolutionary struggle has yet to succeed. If we don’t win, we will continue to be trapped in an endless cycle—of war, of peace, of ceasefires. There will be no escape. Our grandparents and parents already suffered under the ravages of war. Our generation is suffering now. And if we fail to put a definitive end to dictatorship, it’s guaranteed that our children and the generations after us will continue to endure the same suffering,” he stated.
In response to a question about whether TNLA plans to return towns currently under its control to the military council, Lieutenant Colonel Tar Pan La stressed:
“We must respect the voices of our allied groups who fought alongside us. Equally, we must respect the voices of the people in these areas who cooperated with us in driving out the military regime. That’s why, at this time, we cannot say whether this or that place will be handed over.”
He also pointed out that the local population, including the Ta’ang ethnic community, continues to face great distress after the MNDAA returned control of Laashio to the military council in the third week of April, following arrangements reportedly mediated by the Chinese government.
