Despite ongoing blockades and coercive pressure from both China and the military junta (SAC), the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) has stated that it has no intention of returning the territories it has seized. This declaration was made by PSLF/TNLA spokesperson Lway Yay Oo during a press conference held on June 5.

Although further negotiations brokered by China are expected to take place this coming August, the TNLA has asserted that its stance will remain unchanged.

In the final week of April, representatives from the TNLA and the military junta held talks in Kunming, China. During the discussions, the junta requested the return of several townships currently under TNLA control—including Hsipaw, Namhcho, Kyaukme, Mogok, and Momeik. In response, the TNLA firmly refused and stated that it would maintain its hold over these areas and defend them accordingly.

Radio NUG

On June 5, at approximately 1:58 PM, a Mig-29 jet fighter from the Meiktila-Shante Air Base carried out an airstrike on Nyaung Kan Village, Saw Township, without any ongoing combat taking place in the area, according to reports from the frontline media outlet Yaw Alin Tan.

The indiscriminate aerial attack, which occurred in the absence of armed engagement, killed three innocent civilians on the spot and wounded around six others.

The terrorist junta has frequently launched airstrikes across the Yaw Region even when no fighting is taking place. As such, civilians are strongly advised to remain vigilant and to build protective bunkers capable of withstanding aerial assaults.
