At approximately 9:00 a.m. on June 8, two women were found dead from suffocation in a flat located on 43rd Street in Botahtaung Township, according to local reports.
It is understood that the victims had turned on the air conditioning and were sleeping in a tightly sealed room when the incident occurred. A cooking pot had been left on a lit stove, and the pot eventually burned through, producing a large amount of smoke. 📌📌 4. Temporary Ban on Large Vehicles Due to Road Repair on Namkham–Namphatka Road
June 8
Radio NUG
Due to concrete paving work at the 5-mile mark, a temporary travel restriction for large vehicles (longer than 12 feet) will be enforced on the road linking Namkham, under the control of the TNLA (Ta’ang National Liberation Army), and Namphatka, held by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), from June 10 to July 10, according to a TNLA statement reported by Shwe Phi Myay News Agency.
The repair works will be undertaken by the Roads and Bridges Department of the PSLF/TNLA. The temporary restriction is being implemented to prevent traffic congestion during the repair period.
It has been noted that since Operation 1027, most vehicles, motorcycles, and travelers have increasingly relied on the Namphatka–Namkham route, which has since suffered severe deterioration. As a result, frequent traffic blockages and road subsidence have been occurring along this stretch.
