๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. NUCC Issues Political Stance

August 23

The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC), which focuses on the eradication of dictatorship and the establishment of a Federal Democratic Union, released its political stance on the evening of August 22.

The statement outlined 10 political positions and 8 guiding principles, emphasizing a Bottom-Up Federalism approach—from empowering States/Federal Units to strengthening the Union as a whole—towards the goal of building a future Federal Democratic Union.

On matters concerning the transitional period, the NUCC highlighted that the Federal Transitional Charter (AFTA) must be drafted, ratified, and promulgated at the earliest possible time, and then implemented in liberated territories already under control.

Furthermore, the NUCC declared that the complete eradication of military dictatorship and all forms of authoritarianism, and the establishment of a Federal Democratic Union in both form and substance, is the ultimate objective of the revolution.

The NUCC affirmed that it will work hand in hand with the people nationwide, advance the struggle guided by the political directions set out in the statement, and continue to engage with all revolutionary forces across the country to build consensus. The aim is to draft and adopt a Common Political Agreement as the collective foundation of the revolution.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. KIO Vice Chairman Gen. Gun Maw Urges Unity Against Chinese Pressure and Military Offensives, Referencing Mufasa: The Lion King

August 23

Lieutenant General Gun Maw, Vice Chairman of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO/KIA), called on all Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) to remain united in overcoming both Chinese government pressure and the military junta’s escalating offensives. He conveyed this message by referencing a climactic scene from Mufasa: The Lion King under the title Mufasa & Melili.

At a time when the junta—receiving weapons and technical support from China—is launching fresh assaults nationwide to reclaim lost territories, and when the Chinese government itself has been exerting heavy pressure on ethnic armed groups, Lt. Gen. Gun Maw used the short film segment as a symbolic call for unity and collective strength among resistance forces and the people at large.

The video clip, just 1 minute and 36 seconds long, was shared on his social media page on the evening of August 22. Analysts noted that it was filled with strong messages of solidarity and unity.

As Gun Maw is known not only as a military leader but also as a skilled writer, his ability to convey messages in a concise and profound manner was reflected in the presentation. Within less than 24 hours, nearly 6,000 people had reshared the video, amplifying his call for united resistance against Chinese and junta pressures.
