📌 Spring Revolution Local News – April 16, 2023 (Evening)
📌📌 1. The Acting President says that the NUG and the ethnic armed allies are working together to enhance the installation of arms and ammunition in PDF battalions
On April 16, on the second anniversary of the formation of the National Unity Government, Acting President Duwa Lashi La stated the following in his State of the Union address:
“There are huge challenges in arming each battalion of the People’s Defence Force (PDF) and local defence forces, who have taken up arms and revolutionised the military dictatorship and the military group. Our government and the ethnic armed allies are working together to enhance the installation of arms and ammunition.”
The Acting President also stated that more work needs to be done to arm each and every member of the People’s Defence Force.
At present, the National Unity Government’s Ministry of Defence (MOD-NUG) has established 303 battalions of the People’s Defence Force (PDF) and localised People’s Defence Groups (PaKaHpa) in 260 townships that are under the command of the MOD-NUG.

📌📌 2. NUG’s Foreign Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung says that the world’s community needs to take more effective action on the military council
At the press conference regarding the airstrike in Pazigyi village held on April 16, Daw Zin Mar Aung, Union Minister of Foreign Affairs of the National Unity Government, stated the following:
“It is regrettable to see that the Security Council did not take appropriate action regarding this incident. In fact, it was already included in Resolution 2669 of the Security Council. The United Nations needs to take more effective action in response to the military council’s mass murder given that this resolution is in place. The world’s community should take more effective action against the military council that violated the resolution.”
According to the most recent update, 174 civilians were murdered, the majority of whom were children and women, in the military council’s aerial bombardment of Pazigyi village in Sagaing’s Kanbalu Township on April 11.

📌📌 3. NUG’s Minister of International Cooperation Dr. Sasa says that it is important that the ICC issues an arrest warrant for terrorist military leader Min Aung Hlaing and his associates
Dr. Sasa, the Union Minister for International Cooperation of the National Unity Government, stated the following in his video message sent to Myanmar Revolutionary Thingyan held in the state of Minnesota, USA:
“The 10 points of UN Security Council Resolution 2669 need to be implemented in Myanmar as soon as possible, along with the 5-Point ASEAN Consensus. On the other side, it is very important to effectively sanction the terrorist military group and organisations, individuals, businesses, and countries that support their terrorism. At the same time, it is very important to not only condemn the terrorist military council, but to take legal action as soon as possible through the International Criminal Court (ICC) for the war crimes they have committed, and issue an arrest warrant for the leader of the terrorist military group, Min Aung Hlaing, and all his associates as soon as possible, just as an arrest warrant was issued for the Russian president and his associates.”
Besides, the Union Minister went on to say that the revolutions in Myanmar and Ukraine are very important in terms of geopolitics, the world economy, and world stability.

📌📌 4. Local defence forces fired heavy weapons at the junta troops stationed in Boe Min Gyi village in Sagaing’s Myinmu Township, killing eight
People’s knight Defense Force Myinmu (PKDF-MMU) claimed: “On April 16, at around 8:00 a.m., we opened fire eight times with 80-mm cannons and twice with a 60-mm cannon at about 85 soldiers of the military council stationed in Boe Min Gyi village in Myinmu Township, Sagaing Division, resulting in the deaths of 8 soldiers and 7 injuries. The military council returned fire with both heavy and light weapons, and one of our comrades was injured but not critically.”
The operation was said to have been carried out jointly by the PDF allies, such as the People’s knight Defense Force Myinmu (PKDF-MMU), the Dog Killers Defense Force (DKPDF-MMU), and the DBBF-MMU.

📌📌 5. A mine blast at a Thingyan stage in Thonze Township killed a policeman and injured at least four
The Tharrawaddy Galon Force claimed on April 16 that it had launched a mine attack against a junta security force who were guarding the Thingyan stage in Thonze Township, Tharrawaddy District, Bago Division, namely, “We Love Thonze,” at 8:50 p.m. on April 15.
At least four members of the junta security force are claimed to have been injured in the mine explosion, and one died on the spot.
The Tharrawaddy Galon Force further stated that it is totally prohibited for the general public to celebrate a fun Thingyan without remembering the tragedy in which more than 170 residents died as a result of the military council’s bombardment on Kanbalu’s Pazigyi village.

According to local residents, a rice dough ball anti-dictatorship protest was held in Kani Township, Sagaing Region, on April 16.
“In Kani Township, a protest against the military dictatorship was held this morning, the fourth day of Thingyan Festival, while offering rice dough ball refreshments, led by the local residents,” they said.
The rice dough ball anti-dictatorship protest was mostly attended by women, and Kani Township has continued to hold anti-military protests to this day.

On April 15, in front of the Myanmar Consulate in Los Angeles, the United States of America, Myanmar immigrants gathered to protest and condemn the air attack on Kanbalu’s Pazigyi village. The military’s indiscriminate attacks, murdering civilians, children, and women were loudly denounced throughout the protest.
In the capitals and states of the United States, a series of protests are being held to condemn the airstrike on Pazigyi village, Kanbalu Township in Myanmar.

📌📌 8. The revolutionary forces call for a nationwide blackout strike on Myanmar’s New Year’s Day
The revolutionary forces call for a nationwide blackout strike at 8:00 p.m. on Myanmar’s New Year’s Day, April 17.
“April 17, Myanmar’s New Year’s Day, is also the seventh day for the over 100 deceased civilians who died in the fascist military’s air attack on Pazigyi village in Kanbalu Township,” said the General Strike Coordination Body (GSCB). Myanmar funeral rituals generally last for a week, and the dead body is buried or cremated on the third day. On the seventh morning, a merit meal is offered to the monks in the case of transferring merit and blessings to the deceased. “Therefore, we strongly urge all the people to show on the first day of Myanmar’s New Year that all their good deeds and prayers stand for those who were killed in Pazigyi village, showing people stand for people,” the GSCB continued.
The GSCB also called on all citizens to take part in a nationwide blackout strike to protest and show their opposition to the actions of the terrorist military council.
