๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Frontline Base of the Aung Zeya Offensive in Myawaddy Seized, with a Large Cache of Weapons Captured

On January 12, revolutionary allied forces launched an attack on a frontline base of the Aung Zeya Offensive, led by the military junta, near the foothills of Dauna Mountain in Kawkareik Township. The base was successfully seized, and a large cache of weapons and ammunition was captured, according to a statement from the Black Tiger Guerrilla Force.

Reports indicate that daily clashes, including airstrikes, have occurred in the area, though the number of casualties remains unconfirmed.

The operation involved collaboration among several revolutionary allied forces, including the People's Defense Force, Black Tiger Guerrilla Force, Cobra Guerrilla Force, and Venom Guerrilla Force, according to the official announcement.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. High-Ranking Fire Services Officer Captured During Security Check on Ye-Mawlamyine Highway

At approximately 9:40 AM on January 16, a high-ranking officer from the Fire Services Department was captured during a security check conducted by the Ye Bilugyi Guerrilla Force near Ye Township. The checkpoint was located on the Ye-Mawlamyine Highway, close to Battalion 586, 343, and 587.

By around 4 PM on the same day, junta forces reportedly closed off roads in Apaloin, Sonpatau, Taungsun, Sounnanta, and Kondu villages.

Revolutionary forces, led by the KNLA (Karen National Liberation Army), maintain control over most of Ye Township, with the exception of Ye Town itself. The military junta has reportedly increased security measures in the town.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Suicide Drone Attack Targets Village School in Bilin Township

At around 5 PM on January 16, two suicide drones launched by the military junta targeted the village school in Tagaelaung Village, Bilin Township. One drone struck the school’s roof, while the other exploded nearby, according to a statement from KNU Central.

The attack caused significant damage to the school’s roof and faรงade. Villagers in Tagaelaung and surrounding areas are reportedly terrified, and schools in the area have been temporarily closed as a precaution.

The two drones were intentionally directed at the school and residential areas, further highlighting the deliberate nature of the attack.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Artillery Fire from Junta’s 310th Battalion Causes Damage in Kyaikto Township

At 8:45 PM, artillery shells fired by the military junta’s 310th Battalion landed in the eastern section of Akhaing Village in Kyaikto Township. According to KNU Central, two 81mm shells were fired, causing explosions in residential areas.

One shell struck the property of U Aung Ngwe, while another hit the property of Ko Win Maung. The artillery fire caused minor damage to utility poles and left a cow slightly injured.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. Aerial Bombing on Mawlu Town Claims Three Civilian Lives, Including One Woman

On January 16 at 11:45 PM, the military conducted an aerial bombing on Mawlu Town in Sagaing Region, dropping four bombs, including 500-pound bombs. The attack resulted in the deaths of three civilians: a female vendor and two travelers. Additionally, a departmental office, multiple residential homes, and vehicles in the area sustained severe damage, according to military-related reports.

The bombing targeted a checkpoint managed by a local People’s Defense Force (PDF) near the town’s entrance and surrounding areas. Bombs exploded in Min Thiri, Min Thitsa, and Min Thukha wards, impacting civilians, including a child, and injuring five people in total, including local residents and travelers.

Reports indicate that revolutionary forces, led by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), had taken control of Mawlu Town on December 13, 2023.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. Military Council Suffers Heavy Losses: Over 14,000 Deaths, 173 Bases Captured, and 14,760 Soldiers Defect

From the coup on February 1, 2021, to December 29, 2024, the military council has suffered significant losses, including 14,093 deaths among soldiers and police, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Defense under the National Unity Government (NUG).

The NUG reported that revolutionary forces have seized 742 enemy bases nationwide. Among these, 173 are command centers, including:

2 Regional Military Headquarters

2 Air Force bases

1 Central Command Center

86 Offensive Support Bases

5 Special Command Centers (SAC HQs)

54 Logistics Support Bases

6 Strategic Command Bases

17 Border Guard Posts

Revolutionary forces also control 58% of the border trade outposts, with the military council retaining control over just 42%. The captured facilities include 162 bases in Sagaing, Magway, Mandalay, Bago, and Tanintharyi Regions, primarily seized by the PDF, local defense groups, and allied forces.

As for personnel losses, the military council reported:

Officers: 135 deaths and 127 injuries, including 53 senior officers (Colonels, Brigadier Generals, and Majors).

Soldiers and Police: 14,093 deaths and 7,363 injuries, totaling 21,456 casualties—an equivalent of wiping out 10 battalions.

Additionally, 14,760 personnel defected from the military and police, including 3,872 soldiers and 10,888 police officers. Of these, 210 defectors surrendered with weapons, resulting in the recovery of 228 firearms and 32,707 rounds of ammunition.

The ongoing resistance has severely weakened the structural integrity of the regime’s forces, with approximately 101 out of 282 battalions reportedly disbanded and another 142 functioning with reduced capacity.

Aung San Force Battalion 5 in Monywa District announced on January 17 that it is recruiting participants for the sixth basic military training program.

The announcement invited young revolutionaries from across the country to join the struggle and enroll in the upcoming batch of training. Eligibility requirements include:

Good health

Ages between 18 and 45

A strong desire to serve as a disciplined member of the People's Defense Force

Willingness to fulfill any assigned responsibilities regardless of location
