๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. KIA Successfully Captures Battalion No. 7006 in Bhamo, Seizing 7 Armored Vehicles

January 26

The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) has successfully captured Battalion No. 7006, an armored battalion stationed in Bhamo, Kachin State. According to local military sources, seven armored vehicles were seized during the operation. The battalion was reportedly overtaken on January 25 at 3:45 PM, with KIA’s communication team confirming the event in a Kachin-language announcement later that evening.

The statement highlighted the seizure of seven armored vehicles and revealed plans to continue targeting remaining SAC military outposts in Bhamo, including Infantry Battalion 21 and Light Infantry Battalion 47. Meanwhile, SAC forces have been conducting relentless aerial bombardments and drone attacks in the area.

The 7006 Armored Battalion, previously under the command of Armored Division No. 72 stationed in Monywa, had already suffered setbacks. KIA and allied forces first breached the battalion’s defenses on January 24, seizing four armored vehicles at the time. By 4:00 PM on January 25, KIA and its allies had fully overrun the battalion, bringing the total number of seized vehicles to seven.

KIA has been engaged in the battle for Bhamo since early December 2024. The fighting, which has continued for over 50 days, remains intense.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Copper Transport Convoy Ambushed in Myinmu, Killing Four SAC Soldiers

January 26

A convoy of copper transport trucks from the Wanbao Mining Company, accompanied by SAC troops, was ambushed with landmines near Myinmu Township between Myinmu and Wanpyay Village. The Dog Killers People’s Defense Force Myinmu (DK-PDF MMU) confirmed that four SAC soldiers were killed during the attack.

The ambush occurred on January 25 at around 12:30 PM, targeting the convoy on the Monywa-Mandalay highway. The attack involved three separate landmine explosions. Initially, copper trucks and SAC military vehicles, including jammer vehicles, were hit by two landmines, reportedly causing injuries among the convoy's occupants.

Subsequently, a third explosion struck the jammer vehicle, while another targeted a military truck carrying SAC troops, inflicting casualties. Following the explosions, SAC troops opened fire with small arms. The wounded and deceased were later evacuated to Myinmu using three vehicles, according to DK-PDF MMU.

This ambush was carried out by DK-PDF MMU forces, who stated that no injuries were sustained on their side despite SAC troops' retaliatory gunfire.

Earlier that morning, the same convoy of 46 copper trucks and eight military vehicles had been ambushed along the Monywa-Chaung-U highway by multiple resistance groups, including the Monywa People's Defense Force Explosives Unit, Area 71 PDF Monywa, Borderless Artillery Battalion, and the Red Line (KMN) Group.

Resistance forces have warned civilians to exercise caution when traveling along the Monywa-Mandalay route, urging them to avoid areas near SAC military units and convoys.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Seven Junta Soldiers Press-Ganged as People’s Militia Defect to KNDF

January 26

Seven junta soldiers, forcibly conscripted as part of the military’s so-called “People’s Militia” and deployed to the frontlines in Karenni State, have defected to the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF), according to a January 26 announcement by KNDF Central Command.

Three unarmed soldiers from Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 430, stationed on the outskirts of Loikaw, surrendered to KNDF on January 19 and are now being safeguarded, the statement confirmed.

Additionally, four soldiers from Light Infantry Battalion 247, stationed near the outskirts of Htee Sae Khar, defected on January 23. They surrendered with their weapons, including three MA-3 rifles and one MA-1 rifle, to different KNDF battalions.

According to KNDF’s central statement, these defectors were unwillingly conscripted as part of the junta’s forced recruitment drives and fled from frontline combat zones. KNDF emphasized that these individuals are victims of coercion, forced into military service against their will.

KNDF urged other junta soldiers to follow suit, leave their posts, and defect to the side of the people instead of continuing to serve a regime that exploits them. They called on soldiers to abandon the oppressive junta and join the people to live with dignity and integrity.
