๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Myanmar Military Intensifies Aerial Attacks on Bhamo to Prevent Fall of Military Operations Command-21

The Myanmar Military Council has launched intense aerial attacks on Military Operations Command-21 (MOC-21) in Bhamo, Kachin State, in an effort to prevent its capture, according to local sources.

KIA and allied resistance forces have been attacking MOC-21 since February 2, and fighting has remained intense up to February 16. The KIA’s Information Department reported on the evening of February 16 that their forces had captured some junta personnel.

As part of the offensive to take control of Bhamo, KIA and allied forces have reportedly seized Artillery Battalion 366, a junta base at Kan Taw Sar School, Armored Infantry Battalion 7006, and the airfield base. However, the junta has been fiercely resisting with heavy artillery, airstrikes, and drone attacks, according to KIA sources.

Starting from around 3 a.m. on February 16, the Myanmar military launched intense aerial bombardments, according to local sources. The junta’s bombings have severely damaged civilian homes in Bhamo, while clashes remain ongoing.

Since early December 2024, fierce fighting has been taking place between the junta and KIA-allied forces in Bhamo Township. However, the KIA’s Information Department has accused the junta of launching airstrikes not only on battle zones but also on areas where no fighting has occurred.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Resistance Forces Ambush Junta Troops in Myawaddy’s Kane Lay Village, Seizing Weapons and Ammunition

Resistance forces ambushed a Myanmar junta column advancing into Kane Lay Village, Myawaddy Township, Karen State, and seized weapons and ammunition, according to Cobra Column 2 Venom.

The attack targeted junta troops advancing from the Thai-Myanmar border area south of Myawaddy, with the operation taking place on February 5. This was officially announced by the allied revolutionary forces.

Cobra Column 2 Venom has not yet provided further updates on the ongoing military situation, but they issued a statement saying:
"Every successful revolution is led by those who are fully committed in mind and body, truly dedicated to the well-being of the people."

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Myanmar Military Plants Landmines in Outskirts of Tilin Township

Junta troops have planted landmines in the outskirts of Tilin Township, Gangaw District, Magway Region, according to local sources.

Around 30 junta soldiers were seen laying landmines in northeastern outskirts of Tilin in the early hours of February 16. The information was reported by Yaw Alintan, a local news outlet citing military sources.

After planting the mines, the junta troops reportedly returned to the town by around 8 a.m.

On the morning of February 15, a landmine planted by junta troops exploded in a banana plantation near the Moe Chaung area in Tilin Township. However, no casualties were reported.

Meanwhile, in nearby Gangaw, junta forces from Light Infantry Battalion 50 (LIB-50) have been reinforcing security checkpoints and repairing military outposts since the morning of February 14.

Due to the increasing risk of landmines, Yaw Alintan has urged locals and travelers to exercise extreme caution when moving around the outskirts of Tilin Township.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Attack on Junta Column Advancing Toward Shapone Village in Pulaw Township Leaves at Least 10 Soldiers Killed or Injured

At least 10 junta soldiers were killed or injured in an attack on a military column advancing into Shapone Village in Pulaw Township, Tanintharyi Region, according to Pulaw PDF Battalion under Myeik District Battalion 1.

The Resistance Joint Forces launched the attack on the junta column at around 8:00 AM on February 13, as it advanced toward Shapone village tract in Pulaw Township. The first engagement took place near Shapone village hill, and at around 1:00 PM, another clash erupted near Shapone Oil Mountain, forcing the junta forces to retreat after sustaining heavy casualties.

On February 14, at around 10:30 AM, the Resistance Joint Forces launched another ambush against a junta column advancing through a forested route toward Ye Chaw Village in Shapone village tract. The battle was intense, and as the junta troops struggled to withstand the counteroffensive, they called for air and naval support to evacuate.

At approximately 3:00 PM, a Mi-2 helicopter dropped over 20 bombs, while naval forces provided artillery cover, allowing the junta troops to escape.

According to the Resistance Joint Forces, at least 10 junta soldiers were killed or injured in the clashes. However, one civilian was killed, and another was injured due to indiscriminate shelling by the junta forces.

The attack was jointly carried out by Myeik District Battalion 1 of the People’s Defense Force (PDF), Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) Battalion 7, and allied resistance forces.

During the engagement, one PDF fighter from Myeik District Battalion 1 was martyred, while two others sustained minor injuries, according to reports from the resistance forces.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. Two People's Militia Members from Pauk Township’s Light Infantry Battalion 4 Defect with Weapons

Two People’s Militia members from Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 4, based in Pauk Township, Mandalay Region, have defected, bringing along their weapons, according to the Mandalay District People’s Defense Organization (Pa-Ka-Pha).

The two defectors reportedly surrendered on January 25, bringing two MA-1 rifles, 417 rounds of ammunition, and six magazines with them.

As a recognition of their defection, the Mandalay District Pa-Ka-Pha awarded each of the defectors 1 million kyats and safely transported them to a liberated area.

The Mandalay District Pa-Ka-Pha also reiterated its call for more junta-affiliated soldiers, police officers, and People’s Militia members to defect, assuring that they are ready to welcome and assist those who wish to surrender.
