🚩🚩 1. KNDF says it is striving to enshrine the historical legacy of the Karenni people with honor and dignity
June 21
The Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) has stated that it is making determined efforts to enshrine the historical legacy of the Karenni people with dignity and pride.
This statement was made today, June 21, on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of Karenni National Day.
KNDF expressed pride in the ongoing courageous and relentless struggle for self-determination and autonomy by the Karenni people, especially at a time when repressive regimes and military dictators have long attempted to dominate through successive eras.
As a result of the 2021 military coup, the Karenni population has had to forfeit lives, homes, and possessions, enduring widespread hardship. Yet at the same time, the Karenni people have remained united in their revolutionary movement and have established people-based governance, judicial, and legislative systems, according to KNDF.
Such efforts, the group emphasized, serve to reaffirm and preserve the dignity and historical identity of the Karenni nation.
KNDF also acknowledged and commended the support and involvement of Karenni communities abroad and domestically in defending their homeland and population, alongside resistance forces.
Thus, the KNDF reaffirmed its commitment to stand in solidarity with the Karenni people in striving to enshrine their historical legacy with full dignity.
June 21 marks the 150th anniversary of Karenni National Day, commemorating the 1875 treaty signed between the British Empire and the Kings of Kantarawaddy, which recognized the independence of the Karenni states.

🚩🚩 2. Fighting continues in seven villages of Naung Cho Township, with junta forces using poison gas bombs, says TNLA
June 21
The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) reported today, June 21, that battles are still ongoing between junta troops and TNLA forces in seven villages of Naung Cho Township in northern Shan State, and that the junta is using chemical weapons, including poison gas bombs.
According to TNLA, clashes erupted on June 20 in the villages of Lapan Kone, Tharyet Kone, Nyan Taw, Shwe Thone, Lone Wai, Oummathi, and San Ma Se—all located in TNLA-administered territory within Naung Cho Township.
During the clashes, junta forces launched 144 rounds of heavy artillery and dropped 31 drone bombs.
TNLA also revealed that during an earlier battle on June 19 between Yemaungdan and Shwe Nyaung Pin villages, junta troops used six poison gas bombs in addition to heavy artillery.
Although the junta had declared a unilateral ceasefire for the month of June, they have continued launching military offensives and attacks in Naung Cho Township.
TNLA pointed out that the clashes are occurring while the Brotherhood Alliance—comprising TNLA, AA, and MNDAA—has declared a ceasefire to facilitate humanitarian assistance for earthquake-affected civilians. The ongoing junta assaults, TNLA says, constitute a violation of that ceasefire declaration.

🚩🚩 5. Airstrike in Saw Township destroys a makeshift hut and 80 barrels of fuel
June 21
An airstrike by the military junta in Saw Township, part of Gangaw District in Magway Region, resulted in the destruction of a temporary hut and 80 barrels of fuel, according to local sources.
The attack occurred today, June 21, at around 6:30 a.m., when a junta Y-12 transport aircraft dropped bombs over the area.
The Y-12 aircraft, which took off from Tantate airstrip, dropped three bombs around an area known locally as Pyin Chauk. One of the bombs hit a property near the Saw–Saikphyu road, igniting stored barrels of petroleum products and causing a large fire.
Another local source reported that the bomb was dropped on a property between Saw and Minhla, which resulted in a fuel shop catching fire.
Although there were no clashes or military targets in the area, and no civilian casualties were reported, the airstrike destroyed one makeshift shelter and approximately 80 fuel barrels, according to sources.
Just earlier this month, on June 5, a junta airstrike on Nyaung Kan Village in Saw Township killed three civilians and injured six others, despite no military activity occurring in the area at the time.
Resistance forces in the region warned that the junta has been frequently conducting indiscriminate airstrikes around Saw Township, even in the absence of armed conflict. As a result, they have urged civilians to construct air raid shelters immediately to protect themselves from potential attacks.
