๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Targeting Strategic Weapons Factories in Western Ayeyarwady Could Weaken Min Aung Hlaing’s Forces

February 17

A military analysis report by PDFInsight on February 17 suggested that if resistance forces were to effectively target key weapons factories in western Ayeyarwady, it could significantly weaken Min Aung Hlaing’s military, potentially forcing it to collapse.

The report assessed the current battlefield dynamics, stating:

"Looking at the present situation, the revolutionary victory could be determined by the strength of resistance forces in various regions. In the west, the Chin resistance forces and Arakan Army (AA) play a crucial role. In the central regions, the Sagaing and Magway PDFs, along with TNLA, are key actors. In the north, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) holds strategic significance. In the southeast, the Karenni forces, KNLA, and PDFs have the potential to deliver decisive blows.

At this point, a coordinated attack on strategically important weapons factories in western Ayeyarwady could emerge as a priority. If these facilities are captured or destroyed, it could push Min Aung Hlaing’s military into a critical state of collapse."

The report also stated that battles in western Ayeyarwady could play a crucial role in paving the way for an offensive towards Naypyidaw, the junta’s capital.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. BGF Plans to Sell Plots of Land Within the Protected Cultural Heritage Zone of Ancient Thagara City for Private Business Interests

February 17

The Border Guard Force (BGF) is reportedly preparing to demarcate and sell land plots within the protected cultural heritage zone of Ancient Thagara City in Tanintharyi Region, providing security for private business investors.

On February 16, the Democracy Movement Strike Committee (DDMSC) of Dawei District released a statement condemning the BGF’s destruction of the ancient city walls of Thagara.

According to the report, the BGF, in collaboration with business entities, used heavy machinery on February 15 to demolish sections of the ancient city wall in Thagara, located in Launglon Township, Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region—an important historical site of the Dawei people.

The statement further asserted that the BGF’s reckless destruction of Thagara, a cultural and national heritage site, constitutes an act of erasing the historical identity of the Dawei ethnic group for the sake of profit-driven interests.

As a result, the DDMSC strongly condemned the BGF’s actions and called on all revolutionary forces in the Dawei region to unite in opposing this destruction and take action against those responsible.
